ANOTHER CF Hood???

ANOTHER CF Hood???

Postby PureNocence » Tue Aug 17, 2004 12:43 pm

OK I read and searched all the post on CF hoods and found a lot of informative stuff. Seems like fiber images is the way to go, although Hawaii doesn't have a dealer so I don't know who I would buy through.

My question is, what EXACTLY would I need to buy with my hood?? Such as hood pins, etc. I read that the hydraulic lifts should be taken out because they put too much pressure on the hood so what would I need to buy in replace of them to hold my hood up?? Thanks for your help, I'm just trying to get a complete cost on what a CF hood would intail. :D

Sandy, i think i remember talking with one of the guys on the board here and he mentioned that i could order a hood with VIS, or maybe it was Fiber Images...anyway, the shipping cost a friggin' leg and a dick so i said no. i think the total came out to about maybe 500-600.

as for the lifts, i think you can purchase some hood lifts, but i don't know where from. i seen one member here on the board with an actual rod to hold up the hood. maybe he'll chime in..

^ I second that.

I've got the VIS CF hood for the past 6 months. Fits like a charm, no hood pin needed, been riding up to 130 mph.

I took the hydraulic lifts out as well, and I didn't need anything else in place of them.

Bought the VIS CF hood for 450 shipped, and I think it's getting cheaper nowadays.

The install is pairly easy, just took the bedline from the old hood and snap into the new CF hood. Btw, you need to orders 3 stickers for the hood from dealers for like $8. Those stickers are using to identify your car on the emission and ispection purporses.

FKN shipping to Hawaii...always rapes you!! Yea, I dunno...just trying to see if it's worth buying the hood or just finding someone down here to overlay my stock one. I really dig that red kevlar material that's why but I don't know anyone who does it with a good repuation.

Postby SpikedMantis » Wed Aug 18, 2004 6:36 am

I'm still interested in this company.

I still want the Invader style hood. Maybe we can e-mail him to get it started again?

Me too! I really like the look of it, the OEM ones are nice but not worth it to me.

whatever cf hood anybody gets, i would recommend hood pins or any other method to make absolutely sure the damn thing is secured.. ive heard too many stories of cf hoods smashing windsheilds.. i think it even happened recently to someone on solaraguy..

I'm down for sure.

Rene's friend has a Lexus is300 and we opened the cf hood and the dang thing is so light! Well it closes with an OEM style hinge in the middle like a regular hood.

I would think it would have to be custom fit for the Solara cf hood?
