New Guy Has Simple Upgrade Questions - Tires, Tint???

Postby Globoy79 » Tue Aug 24, 2004 11:15 am

Howdy everyone, I'm bran spankin new to this. I just bought a 2001 Black SLE V6 and I was wondering how to go about conservative upgrades.

I don't want to "pimp" it out but I assume there are tires that maybe hug the road more, maybe even put larger tires on it? I don't have the first clue.

I'm also considering tinting.

Are there any upgrades that I can go through Toyota to get? I would think there are some drawbacks to going to aftermarket companies - would the parts be toyota certified? Would they void the warranty, etc??

Any suggestions?

Much appreciated.

If you mess with engine components other then normal maintenance and to Toyota spec (see your manual) then say good by to warranty.

Tinting windows will not void your warranty.

You mean wider tires to get more of the tire on the road?

if you try using the search function also, that'll help with answering some of your questions. as far as the tint, find out what your state laws are...i think someone posted a helpful site about this in the web links section.

If you are worried about warranty go with TRD parts.

Things like a body kit, however, won't void your warranty anyways

Tinting is a nice place to start. If you are going to get wider tires, why not get rims while your at it.

For basic mods I would do

Tint
Rims
Suspension (or atleast Rear sway bar)
You should be able to pull all that off for 2k or less depending on install

Good luck with the car
