Gen 1.5s, HIDs, and the Fog Lights

Okay, first off... I checked the Search function and didn't find the answers to my questions. I've seen several Gen 1s with the HID kits, but I can't recall that many 1.5s. I want to convert my '02 over, but I wanted to convert the foglights as well, since they are on with the low-beams. First question: Are the HID lights controlled by the car or by a separate switch (will I be able to use the controls on the steering column, I mean)? Second, am I correct in assuming that if I wanted to go this route, I would need the following:

1x 9005 Single-Beam HID Kit
1x 9006 Single-Beam HID Kit
1x 9006 High/Low Beam HID Kit

And lastly, has anyone else outfitted their fogs with HID? Thanks in advance.

Nope

You need 2x regular low beam 9006 kits to convert to HIDs for Gen 1.5

The low beam is 9006, the high beam is 9005 and the fogs are 9006. No reason to convert the highbeam, so you need two 9006 sets. Also, they will fully REPLACE your current halogen bulbs, so they are controlled by the same switch, as well as twilight sensing and Daytime running light rules. Youll want to disable DRL if you have HIDs.

I put 9006 HIDs in one of my gen1's fogs for testing, but I have the yellow fog capsules. Check my cardomain to see pics against regular halogen bulbs.

what are you talking about there are lots gen 1.5 with HID, for example mark and I both had HID and now Milt got his as well. I don't see the point of haveing HID fog lights because it's not going to work when there is fog. Why would you want fog lights when it's not going to work with fog?

Yes its the same kit. My friend ordered 9006s for his eclipse's lowbeams, so he let me try them out on my fogs, since they are also 9006.

I installed them in his eclipse after I took some pics. Check near the bottom page 6 of my cardomain

I dont know about Gen 1.5, but Gen 1 fogs help alot with periphial vision as well. I noticed alot more light to the sides when I put the HID in the fog.

Our fogs also work as auxiliary driving lamps in clear weather if you want them to.

Halogens, since they are yellower, would at the same intensity cut through fog better since yellower light scatters less, but HIDs are brighter to begin with, so even if it scatters into the fog more, what you see will probably still be brighter.

Im no physicist, but thats what I think.
