Tires: KDW-2 vs. AVS ES100

i was supposed to buy new tires a while back but i decided to wait so i could spend a bit extra on higher performing tires...

i have now narrowed it down to two choices both in 235/40R18 formats and both priced at about $158/tire...

BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2 300 AA A
Yokohama AVS ES100 280 AA A

i have already read up on the surveys and test results for both but would like some extra input...

I had the yok's a few years back when they were a new product and $133 each. They are decent for cornering and have a nice wide tread width. The downside: they only lasted me around 17k miles (partly due to some negative camber and too many burnouts) and they are very darty.

Never had the KD's but I've heard good things, think they are a little heavier (4 lbs or so), if that really matters.

If you are shopping at tire rack, contact Shaun (800 428-8355ext. 661, shaun@tirerack.com), he has driven on both sets.

I also have the YOKO ES100 on my ride. They seem to wear very fast. :-? The performance in the wet/ rain is not as good as the Falken Zenis 115's I had in the past. The ES100's tend to hydroplane allot... However the corning grip is better than the Falkens. I've also got my eye on those BFGoody KDW2's... In the margins of the specs, what look attractive is the tire wear of 300 verse the 280 Yoko's. Besides the tread design on the BFG's look very aggressive. I'd image they'd be allot more noisey than the Yoko's due to the tread design (big tread block). :D
