HELP! Need suggestions on upgrades

Ok guys here's the deal....

I have a 2000 Toyota Solara SE V6 5spd. Injen short ram intake w/ heat sheld (changed my filter size), magnacor kv85 plug wires and looking to get the jp performance headers and cat-back exhaust setup soon. Oh yeah, and I lowered the car about 2.0" and upgraded to drilled rotors.

OK.... here's the problem. My now ex-girlfriend left me for a chump who has a 350z. I'm sooo bitter about this, but I just want to do something before I completely get her out of my life. Mainly I want to embarras the guy who spent twice as much for his car than I did on the solara.

What do I have to add to my car to beat a 350z in the 1/4 mile? I'm already looking for a TRD supercharger, but I want to up from the factory one that only adds 70hp to something higher.

Oh, and by the way... the chump with the 350 is getting a stage 2 turbo kit next year so I want to be prepared for that.

Any suggestions? I was also thinking of getting a new car to do this, like a BMW M3, RX-7 or Supra.

What do you guys think I should do? Don't get me wrong, I love my Solara and I was planning on doing all this work before this happened, but this just sped up my desire to do it now.

Thanks for any suggestions! Let's find a way to smoke this chump!

screw the headers... trd supercharger with 6psi or 5.5psi with jims fuel upgrade kit should beat a 350...should cost around 4gs with installation maybe cheaper i'm not sure.... i'm pretty sure my car beats a 350z.... for sure you'll get him off the line.... 350 doesn't have as much torque as the s/c v6 solara.....

If you want to beat a 350Z it's time to ditch the Solara beacause it's not going to happen.

Listen, I dont know jack about upgrading your car, but lemme remind you of one thing, think of it as upgrading yourself: This chick left you for a dweeb in a z? That's fine- guys in Z's, like guys in most small, built-to-be-real-fast cars, are trying to advertise something. You, in your comfortable, cruisin' Solara, are not trying to hide or exaggerate anything. There's better girls around, duder. There's Solara-loving girls around. Don't get in stupid rivalries with guys who are shriveled from steroid use.

Z and solara were builded in different direction. he can put less effort then you to upgrade his car and smoke you easily. (290hp vs 200hp). If you want to spend less and money and smoke him, you need to get yourself at 92-00 civic and did some engine swap and some work, you can smoke him easily.

But the smartest thing is to forget about her and her bf's z. they are just strengers..... perhape you can save up for your house down payment or business funding.

or if you insist to piss them off. buy a Z32 (90up) 300zx twin turbo. with some work, it is easily get over 500hp on the wheel. keep in mind you can get yourself a convertable too.

but once again, solara is more economy and more comfortable. if you dont mess with it, it should last forever.

dude, i dont wanna flame you or anything, but going into a financial crisis just to beat a guy in a Z is kinda, i dont know, dumb. look at the broad you were dating, she left you for a guy with a Z? now how much did she really love you if she just saw some guy with a nice looking car and decided to jump the boat and go for him because of the car. be the better man, let it go. who knows, maybe that broad will end up leaving this guy with a Z and go for a guy with a ferrari. who knows. possibilities are endless, girls are even more so. let it go.

Hard to add much to the already excellent advice. Take a look at my upgrades on my www, I can beat a 350Z. Now having saidd that I have put some SERIOUS jack into my car/engine. The same 350Z could invest about 1/4 of what I did in his stock Z and blow me away. If you have to be faster, get another car. Otherwise I like the advice of just getting past it... -JoeB

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I know that I just love the solara but absolutely hate getting beat.

Some of my friends picked up the older (89 - 93) Nissan Skylines GT-R's and they're fixing them up. I think that might be a way to go. But I see so many upgrades for a BMW M3, and some have beaten fararri's and such. I have been looking for a 95+ Supra, but here in Canada it's hard enough finding a 89+. But if I do find one, I think that would be the way to go.

I guess all of you are right I should just let it go and not go into debt at 23. On the other hand, I was looking to upgrade from the Solara. I got in a major accident in January this year and it was about $15 000 CAD in damage. So I was looking for a new car anyways because that much damage just scares me if I was going to put so much into it. Mainly I was looking at a G35, Supra, RX-7, or 3000GT-VR4. Is there anything else you guys can suggest for under $40 000 CAD?

Thanks everyone for being honest about the Solara. I seen that in other forums that the group doesn't want to admit to another car being faster than what they have. It really helps out a lot. Great Group!

Oh, BTW....

JoeB - when I was looking for parts for the Solara I did find yours and how much work you put into it. Yours is awsome and I was using yours as a "blueprint" to what I should pick up. Don't worry, I wasn't going to copy all your parts exactly, but use yours to find parts to upgrade.

Thanks again!

it is very pimpy i must say and it gets more respect than a Z, especially from mature people and valet parking. nowadays Z just like celica, they are everywhere on the street. but it still nice
