Header Install?

I'm real close to buying a used set of JP Performance headers and Y-Pipe and I was curious about how the install went?

How long did it take?
Did you do it yourself?
If you took it to a shop, how much did it cost?

Any regrets with the headers?

I heard the hardest part is just the rear headers unless you got small hands. . . JP Performance quoted me $450 for the install

I have the prototype.

If all goes well with the install and the dyno, then they will be going into production. The pieces I recieved are very much production quality in construction, cleanliness, and finish. My first impression was very very positive, as was the general consensus of the guys around my shop.

I said I'd have pics by midweek, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to get them until this weekend, sorry guys! I will have a ton of them though, I promise.

^^^Yup... The back one is a Beeowuch! I took a look underneath and the first thing that poped in my head was take it to someone else.

You need to drop the front cradle to get to the back ones. Also the mid pipe is heavy as shight. you got to get those pipes lined up somehow. So IMO, I'd take it to someone unless you have some buddies with a hoist and a set of extra hands.
I'f you haven't got the front Sway bar from Whiteline performance, it might be a go time to get it installed at the same time. Since the front cradle is being dropped access to the bushing mounts will be accessable.

About the front sway bar-

NOTE: try to tighten the heim joint drop ends as tight as possible (but not to strip them) because the nuts tended to pop off. This is more so when you do alot of heavy corning. Anyway Bro good luck.

It shouldn't be that hard to install.
Cause i've had to install an 3" downpipe on a Dodge Stealth TT.
And it was a mofo to install, wit the front and and rear bank shite.
And all we have are jack stands.
The 3" downpipe could barely fit cause it would hit the driver floor board under the car.
Had to minuplate it to get it up there.
Plus the flange was off and not straight, and so we couldn't put the nut on after it was fitted up to the manifold; we had to have the downpipe at the edge of the threads for the bolt, and then push the downpipe up alittle and tighten the nut in at the same time.

seriously, if youve ever tried to install the jpp headers, youll understand how net-to-imposible it is to work on the car. As strange as it is, It seems that it might be easier to get the tock rear header out and new header in through the engine back instead of under the car. Yeah, that's how little space you have going from undernearth. Theres so little space, I can't even put 2 hands through to get more leverage to tighten/loosen the bolts.

My advice is to have someone do it

I did it myself and remember that I got everything off except the rear manifold in like 45 minutes taking my time. Took me 2 hours to get the rear manifold off and the rear header in. In hindsight, I think the easiest way I can think of but never tried is to remove the right front tire and wheel well shroud. Then support the engine and remove the right drive shaft and rear engine mount. A lot of busy work but you may get a lot more space to work with. When I changed my right front a-arm bushings I saw all the space you would have to the manifold and remembered if I had to do it again I would do it that way. Just a suggestion.
