How to install a TRD RSB on my own?

Postby Bemanix88 » Wed May 17, 2006 7:08 pm

Hey everyone, I want to buy a TRD sway bar for my '99 SLE V6 but I want to save the money on professional installation. I heard it isn't too hard to install on your own. What do I need to do and what will I need to do perform the install? Is a lift gonna be necessary or can I get by just jacking the car up? Thanks!

Yes your goin' to have to jack up the rear of the car to access the RSB.
It not that hard to install the TRD RSB it just a matter or replacein' the stock crappy one wit the TRD.
And don't forget to lube the RSB poly bushin' so it won't sqeak so soon.

Definitely lube the bushings....mine is squeaking already. It's not hard at all. I didnt even jack my car up, I have a sloped driveway. I think its a 14 millimeter open end/box end and then a 5mm allen wrench. Forgot what the mounting bolts were though

the front ones were 12mm. I just did my front sway bar a couple weeks ago. Can't wait for the TRD rears. Typically, the rear is more difficult in our cars.

installation is the exact opposite procedure as removal. do it exactly the same or you'll have issues. You usually have to remove a heat sheild around the exhaust piping in order to get the bar fully out. Its an easy job.

I installed mine a couple of months ago. Really not too difficult.
And I *highly* recommend getting the TRD rsb. It makes the car so much more enjoyable to drive around corners. I find myself accelerating just trying to get the car to lean more.
YEA TRD!!!
