If we were to block off the EGR port on the 1MZFE Solara.
Read about a block off plate for the MR2 turbo.
Cause the EGR valve lets some of the exhaust hot gas back into the intake manifold, to reduce detonation.
But woudl that be a bad idea to block it off????
Cause you don't want hot air in the intake manifold, right????

The most basic problem would be the CEL light turning on, but I don't know if it causes anything else to happen.

I remember doing it on my Accord. It had two ports one that opened and closed and a straight through path. So I made a gasket that bloacked off only 1 port. I haven looked at the Solara yet.

Well looked in the Haynes book, and it leads to a port near the rear headers......

Besides plates for the intake and exhaust manifolds, you need a way to trick the EGR valve or it won't run/idle correctly. My bet is any gains are not worth the trouble. A turbo 1mz would probably have a stand alone A/F system and exhaust so it makes more sense to just get rid of the EGR stuff.
