TRD mufflers

TRD mufflers

Postby Solorange » Thu Jul 13, 2006 2:24 pm

I saw a TRD muffler on ebay being sold by Toyotaparts4u and it stated that it was for a 97 to 01 Camry. So I asked them if that would fit my car and they replied that it wouldnt. Im surprised it doesnt. Is there really a difference between a camry muffler and a camry solara muffler?

The trd muffler is all good. IT is a straight through Borla muffler good tone. Wait for a used one the SS body will never rust and they tend to be in good shape. I also added 2.5 inch piping to mine and a 18 inch highflow resonator to help quiet it down some.

If I installed the muffler on my car without changing the pipes, would that add any horsepower? I am just curious. :D

TRD is made by Borla which is one of the more well known companies when it comes to exhausts. I have heard aftermarket (OBX, etc) and cheap exhausts on many vehicles (especially Honda's which are a dime a dozen) and a Borla, be it on an domestic or import always sounds better.

TRD is awesome, they just overcharge on their items but they work for sure. :P

Not really, but the claim by toyota is like 3 to 4 hp increase. You can get any exhaust and its not gonna do much. To get any larger increase in power out of an exhuast is to do a full exhaust upgrade from the headers back, and it only really helps more if you have more big things done to your engine like if you are supercharged. With all that you may get a 10 to 20hp increase depending on the car.

But apparrently for someone who wants a sportier exhaust note without changing the stock components too much and isnt looking for hp increase pollutes the streets. :splat:

go buy a magnaflow (street series) and have a muffler shop custom mount it. good sound and its not going to break the bank.

My custom project is in the works.
