Exterior/Interior Modifications

Postby RickyBoxler » Sun Feb 23, 2003 9:32 pm

Ok heres the deal. I wanted to modify the **** out of my car, the outside that is and lights and tvs and all the junk on the inside, no rice though. Than after thinking for a while about it..i realized that since I park my car outside behind my apartment that having all that stuff would be an invitation to gettin everything stolen. Especially since im dropping a very large amount of money into my sound system. Heres what im asking of you guys. Id like ideas of indoor/outdoor modifications that I can doto my car that when i turn it off and park it..it still almost looks stock. Obviously things like "19 rims and body kits are out of the question (NO MATTER HOW FREAKIN BAD I WANT THEM). Things I have in mind are like light window tints, changing out the head/foglights, clear corners, maybe changing the color of the turning signals (is that possible..any ideas?), underbody/muffler/inside/nozzle lights (with a switches cuz sometimes i think there gay sometimes cool..and of course there illegal), id like to add a bullhorn like the cops have (ideas on that plz), umm I have SO many ideas but i dont know whats possible or how to go about doing what I have in mind. NONE of my boys out here are really into hookin cars up so they cant help me. So everyone please post your ideas. OH ya..and if anyone lives in chicago drop me a line on aim or somethin..i need to meet some people who are into cars. BTW I have a '03 SILVER SLE.

definitely..but technically amber is the only street legal color (as far as i know)

you could easily in one day for under 100-150bucks (well..depending on which blubs you buy), change the headlights, fogs, turn signals..and possibly put in clear corner lenses.

i have the clear corners and wanna get the silver coated turn signals that light up amber. didn't someone here say that had a problem w/ them? or am i just imagining it? (i'm talking about the ones they sell on sounddomain for like 6bucks each)

Everyone will probably tell you:
Silverstars, PIAA or HID for headlights
Euro Clear Corners with APC Titanium Bulbs (Almost Any color available)
Many Custom Grilles (Do a search)
TRD, GReddy Evo Muffler
Custom Interior Lighting - get rid of the green and put in other colors
And NO
Altezzas
Lightup Nozzles
Unless of course, YOU like them.

And you can change your turn signal colors, size 1157, however anything other than Amber is illegal.

I didn't say I had a problem with the APC Titaniums, but I did say that they're not as bright as the non Coated ones and harder to see on a bright day. I think they're worth it.

Those are my sentiments exactly. Check out my sound domain page and you'll see its dedicated to my hatred of rice. Almost every mod I have can be hidden or turned off and made into a stock car. Thats the way to do it, keep it clean and simple.

As for the bullhorn that the cops use, i think what you mean is the loudspeaker? My friend has one of them on his jeep. He can play a few different sirens, use a microphone, and make different noises like the ice cream man and different animals. He got it at mothers car shop.

Good Luck with your solara

as far as the turn signals go, white and amber are fine, i got these blue bulbs for the front turn signals in my clear corners, so during the day when the lights arent on, they look blue, but at night, when the running lights are on and when i put the turn signal on the blue bulbs actually flash a white light similiar to the stock head lights but of course not as bright

I dont really mind if things are illega ya know? I mean so its the thumpin sound system im puttin in and so are my window tints that im gettin on tuesday. Id like to have a blue turning signal..i think that would be pimp. And Yank..thats EXACTLY what im lookin for..where did he get it and how much did he pay. Details? ANd flash..whats wrong with the nozzle lights..as long as i got a switch to turn em off and on (I plan on having a switch panel for all my lights below my deck)? Oh..and does anyone have the link to a thread on how to change out my interior lights..i read one but i dont know where it went. Id like to do them all in blue (blue and silver go together i think). And i mean..i dont really know how to do stuff with cars..so would that be really hard for me..or should i have someone else do it?

Personally I don't drive with my wiper nozzles on or my Street glow underbody kit. I think its a stupid way to get a ticket. Plus if you get pulled over for something dumb like that, the cops are more likely to bust you for speeding and larger infractions. Especially in my town. The actual nozzle that I have is silver and i think it looks much better than the stock black which is the main reason i have it.

My switches are also located in a nice concealed location. I paid a pretty penny for some of my equipment. If you'd like more info where to get it, or how much i paid PM or email me. Installation really gets to be a killer. Example: The underlights were $150 online, but install was another $100

it sounds like u want the sleeper look to me, but at the same time, wanna be very bright w/ the light mods. so im kinda confused. i suggest you lower ur car first. dont spend ur money on the little mods yet. get suspension upgrades, and work on ur engine if u wanna be sleeper. if u wanna do lights, here's a great thread on the dash light upgrade: http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopi ... light=dash
