can anyone tell me what was done to this intake??? its my friends solara, but i havent been able to keep in touch with him lately so i cant ask him personally. all he did was change the filter. less than 20 bucks i think. whats the difference between just changing the filter and buying the whole injen intake? heres the pic

He just doesn't have the pipe for the intake, he just replaced the airbox w/ the cone filter

im guessing the pipe is more resistant to heat than the stock one?

in my opinion I think the injen whether cold air extended or just the short ram would be better than just a cone replacement.. the tube of the sri and cai i think offer better airflow than a stock tube. I thought that just puttin in the cone itself would help out the airflow a LITTLE bit [and a little more 'sound'], but not even much..
correct me if im wrong.. but that's just my .02


side note---> what is that mini air filter cone on the top by the intake manifold, what does it do?

That little filter is just an oil breather filter. The tube offers a smoother flow, but you personally wouldnt feel the difference.

I can see the stock resonator near the TB it may reduce airflow and noise but I would think not much.

the only reason i got a whole intake with the metal tube is cuz my stock one came apart all the time when i romped on my engine, then my car would die.
