Ractive Exhaust?

Ractive Exhaust?

Postby CrazyCraig » Sun Apr 20, 2003 8:26 pm

Oops  ! I was laying under my car surveying the damage when I noticed that the muffler was not OEM as I had thought. It turns out that it is the Ractive seamless oval muffler (MR-607 I think) in stainless. It is extremely quiet, so I am going to guess the performance gains are negligible. While blowing by my brother, he said it makes a "whooshing" sound like a jet engine. Does anyone know anthing about the company or their products?

i've heard of ractive, however never saw one in action. can it be some wooo woooo! ?? mufflers should not make a whistle sound unless you have an exhaust leak. how fast were you blowing by your bro? was he in a car as well?

HAHA! :D No ....... no wooo-wooo :D . Just a shhhhh type sound, like air escaping ....... fast. Might be more S/C than exhaust that he heard. I blew by him under full throttle. He was doing about 60 mph, I was doing about 100 mph and climbing :D .

Ractive is owned by Toucan Industries. It's a cheap parts company amongst the ranks of APC. I say pass on the muffler and go with a Magnaflow...or step up to a Greddy, Apex or JIC.

once the s/c is winding away, no exhaust can be heard, unless you have a straight pipe. but then again, our v-6 design is made so that once the engine is going above 4400 rpm, there is not much exhaust noise, just engine. i have the JIC, its loud and all, but thats all under the 4400rpm mark.

Yup, you probably hear the intake at low to mid rpm and SC at mid to high rpm
