Hey guys (and gals), I'm sort of new to the forum although I already made a post in the 'For Sale' Section. I have a 2000 Solara SE I4, and I wanted to sell it and get a v6 5-spd instead. Anyways, I was wondering what exactly 'offset' means since I want bigger rims eventually (probably 18s). Thanks

This should clear it up:

As for offsets on a Solara, anything +40 to +45 will do.

Offset for Solara would be 35+ to 45+.
35 u gotta roll fender and 45 u may need to use spacer.

So try in between 38+ to 42+.

do not get anything bigger than 8.5 for width. if you do, the lower (X<+42) offset you will have to get.

I thought 8.5 was too wide for the Solara...I thought even 8 was pushing it. I was looking at some Breyton Vision rims that are 18 X 8.5 and wanted to get them but started looking elsewhere when I realized they were 8.5.
