hey guys i'm planning to install the HID kit i purchased through the last group buy from RDKamikaze soon. I received a set of h4 hi/lo 4500k bulbs and my question is regarding the way they came protected inside the box.

From all the tutorials I was able to look up and stock images from other kits, this is what i found.... a clear plastic cover that has to be removed before installing the bulbs.

But what i received was this metal casing that can be locked and unlocked into place....

what i was wondering was if the metal casing had anything to do with the way the hi/lo mechanism works and if i had to leave it attached in order for the hi/lo to work. I appreciate the help in advance! once again i tried looking up this info but all i could find is guides to install regular kits and none had this.

^^yes, the casing surrounding the bulb effects the hi beam pattern. if you were to remove it, all you'd have are your regular lights without the capability of putting on your high beams. Mine were the same way, although the surrounding material was a little different. I ended up just removing the surrounding piece and have only regular lights with no hi beams. It's actually brighter that way than with the capability of putting on your high beams. The high beams were worthless, which is why I just removed it.

thanks for the help.

install was interesting but it turned out good. Two small problems though.. bulbs dont seem to match in color! i know you have to let them burn in first but after how many hours of use should i expect them to match? another thing, the rubber ring behind the bulbs arent perfectly sealed. the bulbs were too big for the rubber to cover (look at picture #3)..any suggestions about that would be appreciated....but aside that, i love them! check out some of the footage

took a short video you can see it here
