S/C INSTALLED!

S/C INSTALLED!

Postby krook » Tue Apr 29, 2003 12:11 pm

okay, i FINALLY INSTALLED MY S/C!! everything is running fine. however......(uh-oh) i know there is supposed to be a slight whining noise from the s/c right?? but i keep hearing like a 'sputtering' type of noise when it's idling. it's not too loud, but it is noticible. what the hell could it be? other than that, it's boosts quite nicely! :D

FOR THOSE OF YOU CONSIDERING DOING THIS MOD YOURSELF

it's acutally not that bad. (yeah right) no...seriously, it only took me like 3 days to finish. but that was only b/c i had to keep swinging by Sears to pick up tools i didn't have. all in all, it was a great learning experience, and even if you're not too mechanically inclined (like me) this job is still a medium level DIY.

The noise should be normal. For the first few hundred miles I even experience a noise at around 2000rpm but that has since ceased. Now the idleing noise stops at around 900rpm.

Thats exactly what it sounds like. I always though it sounded like fluid but you described it. It'll lessen over time as the SC breaks in and you'll get used to it

That's normal. As your S/C ages...you will start hearing more chatter from the moving parts inside the s/c.

That gurgling noise...

Postby JoeB » Thu May 01, 2003 1:05 pm

krooked Solara, I know what you mean about the noise. I just got my S/C installed about 3 weeks ago. I had mine installed at Toyota from a guy that has done several of them. I'm not mechanically inclined enough to tackle a DIY on a project like that. Besides, I need the car to get me to work in the morning. When I first heard it, I had to ask too. I just didn't sound right. -Joe
