I have 20" rims on my 2000 solara. the rear looks great and doesnt need any lowering, but the front needs to be taken down about 2 inchs. What's the best way to do this?

since yr rocking 20's - i don't suppose to you're after performance ( but if you are, feel free to correct me) .. you can get by with ground control coilover SLEEVES with bilstein or tokico struts.

good luck.

you can take a pointy object and stab a hole into the side wall of the tire, and bam your lowered.

But on a serious note, coil overs would be the best option

Yeah, I kinda like it. The drop will be sweet on it. If you can find a set of used COs you can get a decent price, but I don't think you can hit $400 installed. Maybe $700 installed. A new set goes for about $1000-1500. I got my set of Coil on Struts for about $400 used. I also installed them myself.
Trust me, I'm a technician.

If you don't really care about performance or anything, just toss some springs on it. I am usually one to recommend coilovers in almost every situation, but I bet your ride quality is already bad enough with wheels that big. A set of Tein lowering springs and some new struts should be exactly what you are looking for. I would be sure to lower both the front and the rear with the same suspension setup- not only is lowering only the front going to look weird, but it is going to mess up the way your car handles as well. Do it right and modify both the front and the rear, that's my two cents. Good luck!
