Sounds like a good sales job. I think as the torque conver is improved, it will get closer to the standard but I don't think it could ever get better. I found a company that does some great tranny mods and upgrades including the torque converter. Unfortunately, I'm out of town traveling and the info is at home. -JoeB

Thanks Scottv6, Level 10 is the one I was thinking of. I've heard good things about them. Go to their site and read about it, very informative. http://www.levelten.com/converters.htm It looks like the price is $498 for them to rework your torque converter. If anyone tells you they can make an auto better than a standard, be VERY skeptical... My understanding (and I don't know a lot about it) is that you will ALWAYS have some loss of power in the torque converter and some in the automatic transmission itself. This can be minimized with high quality parts but will never equal a manual transmission.

While you're at Level 10's web site read about their automatic transmission mods, nice stuff. No, I don't work for them or know anyone who does  , I'd know a lot more... -JoeB

Level 10 is a great company. And yes it is possible to make an auto better than manual, probally not on our cars but it is possible. Both auto and standard will experience some drivetrain loss, that is ineviatable.

Good luck Scuba and let us know how it goes

over in england, b18c's (GsR) motors are lashed into gen 1 mini coopers.

i was talking to level 10, thinking about upgrading the valve body and torque convertor. even having the torque convertor into a higher stall one. i believe if we get a group of 10 ppl to buy the torque convertor, the price drops $50...

one thing that auto is better than manual is that a manual can never shift as fast as an automatic. :) (comming from an old school muscle car dude)

believe it or not, on muscle cars, if you had an auto, you had more fun...
