Adjustability of Tein SS vs JIC A1/A2 coilovers

Postby nkx1 » Sat Mar 20, 2004 11:07 am

I was reading some past posts about both systems, and I just had some questions about each.

1. How easy are the Teins to adjust? Can you do it while your car is just sitting in the garage?

2. What is the primary difference(s) between the JIC A1 and A2? Is one easier to adjust than the other?

3. Overall, what is the best choice (Tein, JIC A1, or JIC A2), and for what reasons?

Thanks for your reply's!

1. Tein's adjusters can be adjusted by hand! You only need the little wrench for the rear ones (since it's under the "carpet" on the rear deck)

2. A1 has onlt 3 (or 5?) damper settings while the A2 has 15. (Tein has 16)

3. Tein are comparable w/ the A2, but do NOT come with strut mounts. You have to use the stock ones. The A2 comes w/ the strut mounts so you can adjust the camber. The Tein (at least my set) squeek in cold weather. When it warms up, the squeeking goes away.

I'm thinking about getting the JIC mounts for my Tein hahaha

there's a big difference b/w Tein's SS and JIC's FLT-A2

and

notice the Tein's SS does not have the lower bracket adjustment, like what the FLT-A2 has.

however the ease of the adjustment for the damper control on the Tein takes a big factor on ease of use of the product.

actually guys, the JIC FLT-A1US is a little bit of both worlds (inbetweener). I would highly suggest getting these since the adjuster is on top jsut like the Tein and yet it is complete including the bottom adjusting perch as with the A2s. Just think of the A1s as extremely similar to the A2s only that

-A2 has a finer adjustment 5 vs 15
-A2 is inverted monotube vs A1 is twintube normal
-Since the shock is normally upright, the adjuster is on top like the Tein

Diff VS Tein
-It comes with pillowball mount camber plates
-Has the ability to vary height with the bottom adjusting perch (as with the A2)
