Yesterday I went down to Gadget's to replace the Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump with a Walbro 190LPH fuel pump. That was too cool. I had no idea it was that easy to change the fuel pump. I thought you would have to drop the fuel tank. Instead, just pop out the rear seat and it's right there!

Anyway, I know what you guys are talking about with the sound it makes. When I first heard it, I was wondering what it was. I barely notice it already (2nd time in the car) and could only hear it at idle. It makes kind of a ringing noise. Gadget got the dimensions and had it pre-trimmed. It dropped in VERY easy! Hopefully he will soon put this on his web site so people can buy it as a drop in replacement and have it as part of the fuel upgrade kit. -JoeB

8) You must not have seen any of my other posts or visited my Car Domain page :D . Check out my Car Domain page in my signature. Definitely supercharged! I already have done extensive work with the fuel system but the previous solution offered by Underdog Racing Development was the Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump. Others had expressed concern about the reliability of the BAP so I asked Gadget to do a little more work on putting together a drop in upgrade pump for us. Our stock pump is ONLY rated at 90LPH. I was already getting enough fuel using the BAP, I just wanted to help Gadget offer something more people would be excited about. Talking with others, it seems that 190LPH should be enough to take care of anything we would be asking for short of MAJOR engine work. Then realistically, you would move to another engine.

To directly answer the intended question though, yes it did make a difference. However, I did the entire Underdog Racing Development fuel system upgrade at once though. Simply upgrading the fuel pump will only help so much without upgrading the injectors also. Then a good engine management system to control the fuel and timing maps. If you haven't looked at it yet or read the info on Underdog Racing Development or Gadget's web site you should, great info! -JoeB

Joe, are you on commission for URD yet? :D

I assume that this was pump Rizal used, and not the one that I have.

No commission but I got a break on install charges since I was prototype for our vehicle. It may sound corny but I really do just want to help others to determine good and usefull mods for our car. Especially since nobody makes aftermarket parts for our car. I'm not really sure which pump he used. -JoeB

Good job JoeB! I'm glad you're breaking new ground, at least for the Camry/Solara crowd. My URD kit has been on for a week and even though I didn't expect any gains with my stock pulley still on, the driveability has improved as well as getting rid of the ping I was getting between 1500-2500. I am getting the JPP system as soon as I know the cat and fitment problems are worked out. In the meantime, I'm much much better at tuning the fuel maps. Maybe a port job is next

I'm going to use the one for a 94-98 Supra NON-Turbo. 190 Walbro Fuel Pump. Check this site out. www.autoperformanceengineering.com

I was lucky enough to talk to the owner Ron Gregory, for shipping confirmation. I told him I was trying to upgrade the Solara's fuel system by dropping 190 pump from a Mustang, then he told me to try the one from a Supra since it will almost fit like the stock pump. Sure enough it does.

I just got my 10lbs. pulley today by the way. :o "Tabasco" goes "under the knife" next week. I won't see it till early to mid May.

CONGRATS JOE! I'm glad the water injection worked out for you. 8)

I was kidding about the commission, but I'm glad to hear that you're getting a break on installation for being the prototype. Like everyone else, I'm very grateful to you for bringing URD to our attention.

Rizal, the Mustang pump was the one that I bought. It fit pretty easily, as well, with a minimal amount of modification. Since having it installed, my A/F ratio has been great, and I no longer have any problems with lean conditions.

I'm curious about your upcoming mods. With 10 psi, I'm assuming that you're having some internal work done. Is this still a top secret project or can you tell us what you'll be doing? Good luck with everything, by the way!

I'd hate be off topic. May have to start new post for this one. :-?

Thanks. My good friend Joe and I are trying real hard to move on beyond 4 to 6lbs. of boost. I really really want to fill you in as to everything that I'm doing but I'd hate to post what I'm doing and then get hammered by different opinions/theories of what will work. I'll pm you with my number.

Thanks for the comments! Great news, URD now has the Walbro 190LPH pump as part of the supercharger upgrade kit and is selling it alone for only $89.99 as a drop in replacement! -JoeB

Email URD about installation. We have several folks out in Cali that assist you with or do the installation for you if you want.
