what can we do to beef up the engine

i was wondering what could be done to beef up the bottom end of the 1mzfe to make it handle high boost. like pistons? does anybody acutally make them for our car? any input would be greatly appreciated.

What do you consider high boost? What do you plan to do with the car? These are two very important questions you need to answer before deciding that the bottom end is too weak. Its been shown that the engine can handle close to double the stock hp without breaking. For how long? That depends on how well you manage the power.

That said, I think JE can get you custom pistons if you like.

stock 22RE con rods will fit with some machining done and can handle about atleast 300hp.

Upgrade is a pain when your broke. All ive done so far that i can afford is shown below. HOW do i even change the spark plugs in the back..darn intake manifold is in the way..Does NGK spark plug add power to a car?

Plugs dont add power. Dont believe whats on the manufacturer's box.

plugs don't add power-correct, however it does make fuel burning more efficient.

Yup, if your plugs are old and poopy you will regain lost horses. I was just saying that there is no such thing as a "performance" plug that will make your engine more powerful.

To add to that, having the right plugs AND having them gapped according to the application is VERY important for power. -JoeB
