Greddy evo is known street legal, therefore it is quiet. it is under 95 db

True about the GReddy evo muffler . . . its the same with pretty much EVERY SINGLE CATBACK SYSTEM . . .
If you wanted to hear the true sound of the Solara engine you should have gotten custom piping done . . . but 3" diameter piping is a little TOO big . . . if anything 2.5"-2.75" at biggest. Anything after that you lose power. And yea make sure you get rid of the resonator

I was just looking at the post and realized that you didn't mention what kind of intake you have. If you get a CAI on your car the noise will be alot louder, and the pick-up a little better :).
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Get the JPP headers and Y-pipe, that made my exhaust TOO loud, but then again I have a different muffler setup. And who ever said toyota's are only quiet are wrong, you can make'em loud if you want.

long times ago there is a car shop did a test and proven acutally the great diameter will produce more HP. They proven that the concept that large exhaust will lost power is incorrect. It was documented in sports compact car magazine back in 199x. However, from my own experience is that excessive large diameter will result freaking loud exhaust and shift of power band-> lost low end torque but maybe gain some high end power

for example, I installed 3" catback system on my 95 240sx with ka24de, 2.4L motor. The exhaust tone is very loud and the car power band get shifted upward. I lost low end torque, but after 3000 rpm, the rpm are shooting up as i have turbo. Past 3000rpm you can feel the power are continues coming up, which are complete different with stock exhaust. Supposely, the 240sx has good low end torque and stable power band because it is a truck motor.

i agree that it may cause some performance gains but it will much much less noticeable unless you have bored out your engine or have forced induction . . . i know that you definitely lose some in your low end . . . but there is potential to heighten your high end

big exhaust = only performance gains in boosted cars.

IT causes lots of backpressure issues otherwise.

And how in gods name is the evo too quiet for you?

Consider the other people out there man, I think they'd prefer if your toyota didnt sound like an F1 jet.

If 95 db isn't loud enough for you, thats pretty lame. Especially when you make comments about hondas and riced out cars.

But whatever, seems I'm one of the few people on this forum who doesn't like 3" exhausts.

agreed...

the greddy is already loud for me. Im looking into getting the apexi WS.. its more of a stock sounding exhaust with performance placed into it. the Greddy is great if it wasn't as loud..
