first of all, Joe, WOW is all i can say. I'm going to Carlos tomorrow for my s/c, hope to see you around there.

I might take a peek of what's going on with your car.

The three Solaras the Arrietas are working on are making me glad I'm on the east coast.

Bro, i think the battle of them three will be at MIR this coming April. It's a cannot miss event.

just curious how you are going to hit 13psi.. since pulley boys only makes a 10psi pulley... hows this going to work?

8) Without getting to technical, it's a factor of the pulley and type of pistons used during our engine rebuild.

so your saying its cause when you run the 10 pound pulley.. you actually see 13? cause thats not technical.. its just heat.... if thats not what it is.. please technically explain it to me, cause im curious... and I know that I can understand it

LOL I know Scott can understand it. Well, you're on the right track my friend but I don't think it is heat. I think the original calculations were off. The boost is not changing with heat. With the 2.2" pulley (rated at 9psi), we are seeing about 13psi. With the 2.0" pulley (rated at 10psi), it is about 15psi. I've run every pulley size from 4psi up to 8psi (3.2"-2.4") and have seen differences in the boost readings on the gauge. The only proof I have right now is reading the gauge and knowing that it has not been adversely (or increased boost readings) affected due to heat. The heat will decrease the amount of burnable O2 because the air is expanded but the pressure will remain the same. I'm not a physisist (and probably can't spell it right  ), this is just my observation.

At 2.2" pulley size, we are WAY past the rated speed of the TRD/Magnusen supercharger. Again, this is uncharted territory. TRD did not do this and Magnusen says it shouldn't be done (but it can). Do the math, the crank pulley is 6.0" and I hit as much as 6,400RPM. I know that for a fact and it is exact. It's the same as everything else - experiment and if you brake it, find another way...

I'll be able to prove it a little better once all of the work is complete and the break-in is complete. I'll have an intake temperature gauge monitoring the sc housing. I can see the difference just by turning water injection on and off. Plus I'm sure I'll see a difference when I'm squeezing the bottle and when I'm not. I'll be sure to post what I find as always. If possible, I'll even push to the 2.0" pulley running 15psi. It all depends on the temperatures. I'm not going to do anything stupid. For that matter, if I think the temps are too high at 2.2", I'll back it down to my 2.4" pulley.

Hopefully you guys know me well enough to know by now it isn't bragging, I'll tell you the bad with the good. The first bad I had to report was I pushed the boost past safe limits and damaged the motor. I know there are people out there running 7psi and have no problems, I say they are the lucky ones. I pushed it to 8psi but I'm pretty sure by the indications that it was damaged at 7psi. I think 6psi on stock internals is the safe limit. Even 6psi should be done with the right fuel mods. I've learned a lot here on the forums and always want to give back what I learn. -JoeB

8) I'll add only this. Today at 0530 a.m. on Interstate 495 North My cars outside air temperature indicator registered 23 degres F and my SC temperature gauge registered 90 degrees F. I punched the car running 40 MPH on the entrance ramp, boost hit 13 to 13.5, SC temp hit 100, RPM hit 5000 to 5500, the car turned the tires for just a second and I was at 120 MPH before I knew what was going on. My wife said we're at 120mph get off it. 8) 8)

Nothing but raw power and crazy torque.

I Love What You Do To Me Toyota and Arrieta MotorSports!!

Its been done. Its no secret now I guess. When I ran "tabasco" at the track last year with "9psi" pulley. I was actually boosting at 13psi. SAFELY. I will run the car with the "10psi" pulley this year and see if I can hit the 12s without nitrous.

Looking good Joe and Greg. I'm glad you both chose to go with Arrieta Motorsports to run higher boost safely.

Thanks Greg, that is exactly what I'm talking about. Rizal, I think I speak for both Greg and I when I say, I'm glad you found Arrieta Motorsports. There are many shops that can put an engine together but Arrieta Motorsports is the difference between putting an engine together and "building" an engine! I'm excited about this year and can't wait! Rizal's "Tobasco" with sheer power - 5 speed! AND Greg's masterpiece "Silverlicious". I picked the Red Flame Metalic back in 99 but after seeing them all fixed up, I REALLY like the silver with black interior best. With the carbon fiber that Greg has done and keeping the clean body lines, I can't wait to see that car in person!

Unfortunately (or maybe fotunately?) I don't think it is going to be that weekend, mid-April. I heard that they changed the schedule and the fisrt event will be in southern Virginia. I'm not into long trips in the RedKnight. I'd rather avoid the miles and highway driving. It just begs for rock chips, bugs and more dirt. I think the event in Maryland will be in June or July like last year. Maybe we can get together at the track earlier than that. I won't be getting my car back until around mid-February and I still need to put 1,000 miles on it before the tune up. I NEED to do that before a track event and I've only put a little over 40,0000 miles on it in 5 years. Of course I'll make a concentrated effort to put the miles on it but April might be aggressive. I need to put the miles on it and schedule the tuning. The shop I plan to go to, Motorsports Performance has a very busy schedule. It's the shop that has the blue Solara that runs in the Pro Modified class and the fastest street tire Supra in the World! -JoeB
