Oh Sweet! A 350z owner!

Hey Ryan,

Just an honest question since I may be looking for a new car on the advice from the forum, since the Solara won't keep with a 350. What car(s) have you lost to or kept up with you? Or what do you suggest over a 350z for the 1/4 mile?

it really depends the base Z is okay not that impressive (for the price) it's a mid 14.5 - 14.1 (depending on driver) car daily... the track model are the one you should really consider, a lot of Z owners with track and enthusiast model could easily break to mid 13's with minor bolt ons as for me I did spend extra 8gs for the TT and all I can say I really dont have any problem with any cars although alot of people backdown after hearing my bov or seeing my intercooler (i've never race my Z yet) but then again there are alot of people who are much faster who spend less money (srt4's trans am) but overall its a great car if you have money to upgrade it you'll be suprise how much of a beast the VQ35DE engine can handle with force induction plus you cant beat the looks man....but if you searching for cheap horsepower I suggest go get an srt-4 ugly but fast :D

S/C'ed MT Solara with a few other mods has similar straight line performance as an E36 M3 or a 350Z.

I am not convinced the 350Z responds well to basic bolt on's though. Everything I have read and seen points to the fact that the Z already breathes well with stock parts. Maybe light flywheels and pulleys are the direction to go.

I am pleased with the performance of my Solara but I'm always thinking about getting something else. If you are ready to mod, upgrade the fuel system first and you will be ready for the S/C and smaller pulley. Don't use the stock y-pipe either.

I would get a Supra or RX-7. Either can be made insanely fast for relatively little money. Others are better/cheaper than this, but don't have the sex appeal, which seems to be important in this context.

Or....you could just forget about it and be a man.

Or....you could go psycho and thermite his Z :drinking:

I can't believe you're debating this, girls are like trains man, just sit somewhere and wait and one will come by every 15 minutes. Just catch one, enjoy the ride, and then wait for the next. Simple.

LOL! I agree, like trains.

Anyways, thanks everyone for the suggestions and helping me out during this time. It really helped.

I've decided if I ever come across a Supra here in Calgary, that's the way I'll go. There's already a few RX-7's but I heard that there's lots of problems with the engines when you bring them into this Canadian weather. If I get the job I want soon, then I'll consider the M3, possibly the M5 depending on how much I'll be making.

In the mean time, I do want to fix up the Solara a little bit more. I'm going to take all your advice and upgrade the fuel line, supercharger, headers and exhaust.

Oh yeah! Who do I contact for the Fuel upgrade?

Thanks again everyone!
