pulley

Postby trd4life » Wed Aug 31, 2005 8:43 pm

i ordered one for my race motor and for my stock 1mz motor. Alot of people have ordered these, they are huge seller right now! Hell, they weigh less than 2lbs, the stock one is over 6lbs. Match this pulley with a fidanza flywheel, your going to haul ass.

^ you should give some feedback on the difference in power gain between stock vs. race motors.

both motors should really like it, just maybe one likes it more than the other.

Postby trd4life » Wed Aug 31, 2005 9:11 pm

they wont do a group buy, there are very limited quantities available, thats why i got my 2 right away. Yeah i am sure my race motor will benefit more from this mod, it will be making 3 times as much power as a stock 1mz :D

Is nobody paying attention to the link datsrboi posted?

Looking at this product initially I can see the idea behidn it and the positivity involved, but on s/c 1mz applications, and especially those running over recommended psi this seems like it's about as good for your crankshaft as hitting it with a sledge hammer once a week or so.

Despite gains, to me it wouldn't be worth it. Not trying to hurt sales, but there has to be a devils advocate and in my case the risk wouldn't necessarily be worth it. I know the guy was tlaking about BMWs but it IS the same idea with our cars is it not?

That being said I could be wrong, it could be entirely different on Toyota engines, althoguh I still can't see it being as safe as the stock pully. However I can see the Fidanze flywheel combination being a mean power gain for our cars.

This is just a replacement pulley setup that is lighter... its not any different in size.. just lighter... so none of the accessorys are effected.. its basically a lighter replacement... not an accessory pulley

I'll see what I can find out, I haven't received mine yet and it will be a while until I'm in a position to install it. It is proven that a light weight crank pulley adds power by reducing parasitic loss. However, unless you do before and after dyno runs to measure the difference, you're not going to know. There isn't a person alive that can feel ~5hp gain or whatever it is by test driving. The people that do that are the same ones that stick an intake on and say their car is a lot faster and also wash their car and think it's faster.

Does that mean it's not worth doing? Absolutely not, it's still a great mod and it is adding all those bolt on mods that gives you the combined extra power. -JoeB

are you saying that someone that installs an intake system should feel 100% reassured to themselves that there is absolutely no power gain and they will feel no power gain, and there will be no increase in performance?

are you discrediting the use of this modification? (crank pulley)

I got my light weight crank pulley last night. I'll get it installed this weekend. No dyno until I reach AZ. The car goes on the truck for shipment to AZ in 15 days. It will be stored until the family and I arrive on the 27th.
