Nope, but it's only beena few days. I'm pretty sure my CEl in my old car was from my Injen, and that went on about 1k miles after I put it on. We'll see.

Nope, just used the Scotchlock connectors. I did connect the serial cable for the computer interface and ran that into my glovebox coiled up for ease of access later. Doesn't take up much room.

No, and I really don't anticipate any. Since the MAF signal modifier from CP-E is inline between the stock MAF and the ECU, the information that the ECU is getting is that everything is within acceptable tolerances.

This is the difference between an Injen or similar intake and this system. The price is higher than those intakes for a reason. This thing is highly engineered, both from a hardware standpoint and from an electronics standpoint. They spent hours with a Solara Gen 1 V6 on their dyno, tuning a perfect 30 x 30 fuel map program to compensate for the enormous difference in air flow. That's why there are real power gains with this setup. You're not suddenly going to beat a 350Z with it on there, but there is a very pleasant extra pull, for sure.

For some reason, I missed this post! Are you Auto or 5-speed? Looking forward to hearing your comments.

No reason to be nervous. It's not a difficult installation, really. Have fun. You're doing it tonight at their shop?

Good luck on the install.

Hornet, I have a question.

How does the tunable version work? Do you plug something into the box, and create a map for the tuner and program it in or what?

Chris,

I haven't used it yet, so I honestly don't have a great handle on it. But essentially, the answer to your question is 'yes." The Tunable MAF Customizer has a serial port on it, in addition to the wiring harness port that's on the non-tunable one. Using this, you can plug the Customizer into your laptop computer and create new or tweak existing fuel trim tables in order to keep your factory ECU happy when you add new modifications that affect fuel trims, like bigger intake, larger injectors, etc.

The way I understand it from reading the instructions (which are highly technical, with a lot of it over my head as yet), the factory computer has limited ability to "learn" how much to adjust the fuel trim using output from the oxygen sensors under low to mid-range engine output, and no ability to do so under high-output conditions. It "gives up" and uses pre-programmed internal tables and voltage output data from the MAF sensor to try to 'trim' the mixture by controlling injector pulse width.

This is where the CP-E MAF Customizer comes in. By allowing you to adjust the MAF voltage messages going to the ECU, you can maintain optimal "closed loop" fuel trims throughout the power band. That's the extent of my understanding so far. How to program a fuel map is still beyond me, but I intend to learn. I'm definitely a noob on this stuff. I asked Josh what the difference between this and a SAFC is, and I frankly didn't understand what he was saying enough to try to repeat any of it. He seemed pretty excited about their MAF Customizer having certain advantages, but it kind of went over my head at this point.

Since CP-E has done such an excellent job of tuning a 1MZ fuel map for to compensate for their huge intake, I may never use the tunable feature unless I do further modifications that would make it necessary. I pretty much got the thing just because it was available, and I'm off and on about continuing to add performance mods (SC, fuel mods, etc.). I still want to learn how to use the thing, regardless, just because I fancy the challenge.

Alright, I just got my Cp-e Intake installed and all I have to say is wow. This thing is f'n disgusting. This really is one mean intake system. The guys up at Cp-e really do know their sh*t, and aren't bs around about this thing. One of the doods up at the shop is an electrical engineer, while the other is a mechanical engineer. Having these two different backgrounds, shows how science/research works. I drove home on the highway and I could really feel the difference in pick up when the pedal was down. When I was just passing someone just cruising it was a smooth accel. I really can't believe this intake.
When looking at their website and seeing the price of this intake I know I was like DAMN thats expensive, but once this was installed I was like DADAMN!! My girlfriend came with me and just to let you know she isn't really into cars but when we were on the road she was like I want to drive. I have had different intakes such as weapon-r and injen in my past two cars and this intake puts those to shame, no joke. Really are noticable gains.
The only downside if there is a downside is its loud. Loud can be good for those who want it to be loud, but those who don't why would you get an intake anyway.
CP-E intake gets my approval i can say that. I couldn't be happier. If anyone has any questions pm me.

Congrats, man. It does sound beastly (in a good way) when you put the pedal down, doesn't it?
