That sounds great! I'm very interested if you could tell us how you did it. I'm especially concerned with how to seal it back up and how much light reduction is there? Thanks -JoeB

What sort of paint do you use?

Do you paint the ring or the outside of ring?

OK so it doesn't affect the light out at all then, great. What about re-sealing them, what did you use? -JoeB

How do you mask it so you only spray the outer ring?

I swear, I'll do this very soon after someone posts a full tutorial. I thought it was illegal and reduced light output which was why I never considered doing this.

your not reducing the light output your painting the silver trim on the lens you take it out and just paint it no masking required

oh
So you DO use spraypaint.
so how do you spray it without masking the inside of the ring without getting overspray.
Im confused, I think I need a DIY.

EDIT -

I think I just figured it out. The ring outside of the reflector is removable, right?

if thats the case, it sounds really easy.

do not use masking tape on the reflector. when you remove the masking tape, it will ruin the reflector. i messed up my first set of headlights by doing that

You guys won't have to mask anything off. Well dunno about the gen 1.5
but the gen 1 all you did to do is remove the ring or the outer trim of the headlights and spray it, and let dry, Yes folks its that easy. And about what kinda of paint you use. I use spray can paint I could get the high temp one I think thats the one I used dont' really remember.
