fiberglass body

Postby bkp_duke » Mon Jul 12, 2004 8:26 am

cost to weight ratio is not worth the cost.

a complete fiberglass body that fits well and is painted would probably be 5-10 grand. for that much you could nearly do a complete engine and tranny swap.

always remember fiberglass=EXPENSIVE :D

plus it'll crack if someone kicks it =P

Lighter forged wheels will not reduce the weight ridiculously... just by a few lbs... I think the stock 17s for gen 2s weigh around 20-25 lbs... forged wheels (18x8, in my case) are at about 18 lbs a piece. So unless you have about 14 rims on the car, you're not going to save 100 lbs =P

why bother going the hard route first?

the reason for thinking of going fiber glass is for weight reduction, am i right?

why not start w/ easier stuff such as taking out the a/c compressor? thats almost 100 lbs right there.

next would be interior. 1 seat alone is around 50lbs. combined w/ the passenger side, rear bench and back support you have around a good 150-175lbs.

still safer as well.

Dude you must be loaded. I wish I had the funds to mod as hard as that.

Kung, I'm not trying to put u down or anything seriously, if i did i apologize...

but if you really have the Gs why not do a custom turbo?

Even though you are able to change ur body to fiber, it's still a 2.4

So your going to replace the stock seats with racing seats on a brand new car? I would not do that to that luxurious looking Gen2.
If I had those Gs I would do other stuff. hehe.

Well I probably would have not purchased the 04 to begin with to then modify it right off the bat like that.

"Hello my name is Louis and I just purchased a brand new economy car and want to put racing seats in it."

Uhh no. I would have purchased a sports car to begin with if I was going to get as far as putting racing seats in. Many options these days as compared to 1999. Toooo much money to get our cars converted.

If you got it like that then by all means.... Can't wait to see your results.
