More stopping power for solaras

I just finished installing a 93+ supra TT master cylinder on my 2000. Since the supra is a 1" there is a 14% gain in surface area compaired to our 15/16" stock cylinder. This means more fluid is pushed through the lines, more pedal effort, less pedal movement. Now there is a slightly longer than stock pedal stroke with a firm, easily modulated feel. With ericsol's 13" rotor kit, SS brakelines and this mastercylinder ... the stopping power is amazing. My dealership sells mastercylinders for the supra (solara is the same price) for a little over $200... you can also pick up a remanufactured one from a local parts store for around $65. If you can bleed brakes, you can do this swap. :D

Hi Swimshady,

Did you have to remove the break fluid reservior? I need to move mine (I have a RHD Aussie Camry and the reservoir is in the way of supercharger pulley :D ). If so, can you please explain how you did it?

Thank you,

Alex

Sounds cool. Can you post up a DIY, or some pictures?
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Yes you have to remove the fluid reservior but only to put it on the new one. It is pretty much a stock replacement...
Ill do a diy today or tomorrow and ill put some pics up.
I dont think the supra calipers bolt on to our hubs, that would require some sort of bracket.

Did you install Ericsol's kit and the master cylinder together or did you install the cylinder after driving around with the big rotor kit for a period?

I drove around with the 13" kit for over a year and there is a noticeable difference :D

Hi Swimshady,

Is it hard to remove the fluid reservoir? Do you mind posting the steps in this thread or your tutorial?

Thank you,

Alex

To remove the acctuall reservoir you only have to remove one phillips screw, to take off the entire master cylinder there are two 12mm bolts and two brake lines. Ill put pics up later today.

If any of you guys are interested one of the members from TN is making new brackets so you can now use the Supra TT calipers as well.

The only problem with that kit is that you can't go back to the 16" rims if you live in a place that sees snow.
