More Power on Gen1 Solara

I don't know much about the 5sfe, but I do know "turbosolara" on here has theirs turbo charged, you could talk to them about that. Also you can go for custom work and what not, it's more expensive, but f*** our parts are already expensive as hell, and even a lot of stuff for the 1MZ-FE hast o be custom. I'm sure you've learned already that parts for our car aren't exactly as readily available as per Honda Civics etc.

Also do small things, clean out your throttle body. Bassthrive posted a good simple tutorial on that in the tutorial forum.
You could check out the link posted here

But I doubt I'd really trust any of that on my baby, maybe it works on an Accord better than our Solaras, but none of it seems to be worth the risk of damaging your car for a few possible hp.

Anyhow, from a new 1MZ-FE owner who doesn't even know as much about his own car as he should, there's my two cents.

you can use "search" function to find more informations.

here are 4 options for you

1. turbocharged it - custom it
2. supercharged it - Rippmod kit
3. NOS it - good luck
4. sell your solara and buy another more powerful car

Like has been said Rippmodds, for the headers and SC. You can do all the real motor mods that any car can have P&P, higher comp pistons, re-stroked etc. There is a Turbo Kit from Burien Toyota, but it's not really all that complete, and somewhat overpriced.

You can build a custom Turbo using mostly 3S-GTE parts, which are readily available on eBay.

Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

the rippmod is not CARB certified. you will fail smog with any of their product. but you can pay the smog tech guy some money to ask him to pass you. there are always ways around it.

It will fail in visual and actual test. Because the ripmod kit require you to change the header, which has one of the catalystic convetor (only CA version). without that, you will fail. but you can still get ways around it.
