OK guys..i'm lost

I mean from wat i hear the drop in filters dont really change much of anything in --

Horses?
Gas milage?
Engine noise?

so are they worth it? i mean...worth spending 50$ or save n spend 250$ for a CAI?

comments plz? :-?

I personally felt a difference in the response of my ride especially from stop and in higher gears on the freeway. As to other people's experiences, I've heard a little of both sides.

i didn't feel any noticable gains in hp immediately...But my mpg went up and my noice level got a little more throtty! IMO, when new it won't make a difference, as soon as you add close to 2-5K miles (as it gets dirty it seem to work better) you will love the difference in a while!

If you have no plans to supercharge, then you are wasting lots of money on a CAI that will give 3 horsepower at best (source: RJ @ UPFD, the co. that built the CAI extension for the injen short ram) The part was designed for those who are S/C.

The K&N drop in is worth it. It does flow better than paper and it is reusable, so you wont have to buy a replacement air filter again.

I myself am considering a K&N drop-in. As for the throttle response and exhaust note difference I dunno...I think its just a placebo effect, but thats my 0.02 cents

You can hear and feel a difference. I just put a K&N in wifes Pathfinder and the sound difference is clear as well as the improved low end torque. Hell she told me about it so that speaks for itself.

question about the k&n drop in

i think the package talks about it being good for 1million miles/lifetime
how is this so? i mean dirt is dirt

it doesn't mention anything about having to clean it/needing a cleaning kit or anything.

people that have the k&n/trd drop in,
do you clean it?
how often do you clean it?
and
what do you clean it with?

thanks!

you clean it with a kit you buy seperately... probably 40 or 50K, whenever it gets dirty. i have a used trd drop in for sale
