JIC coilovers

Hey bought a set of used JIC coilovers and the fronts are blown. Are these rebuildable and if so how much does it cost and can you DIY?

How do you know if they are blown?

They should be servicable, however i do not recommend you do it yourself.

the person who is selling them said that it is blown. He said that when it was in the car was really shaky and it doesn't stroke as good.

Which set do you have? Not all are serviceable in the sense that you can get the actual damper fixed. If you have the SF-1. Good luck. You can only go to Ziel Motorsports and they charge an arm and a leg.

I just remembered that I have my SF-1 sitting in a box and anyone can make offers for the parts as I refuse to sell the set for personal reasons.

Let me clear up some mis-conseptions about JIC coilovers.

1st off, the reason why you have to do maintanance on them is because JIC suspension is truley meant of the race enthusiast. Yes, you can drive them on the street but there is maintanace involved and that applies to most things with your car. If you don't maintain it, it will go down the drain. Just because you get suspension, slap it on and drive like a bat out of hell without any care to your suspension, it's going to wear out opose to a person who check on their suspension once/twice a month.

Second, we do in house repairs. If you want to arrange a rebuild you may contact, Jessica here at JIC. She will be able to help you out. 562-803-6122.

If you guys have any questions in regards to the solara suspension, please let me know. Thanks.

What's up Yukio, long time no see! Nice comeup working for JIC. Anyways, what types of maintenance are required for flt-a1s besides alignment?

Yukio, great to see you here. Last I remember seeing you was at SC3 before it closed down or changed? When you say maintenance, what type of maintenance do they need? I'm considering a set of FLT-A2s, just want to know what type of regular maintenance can/should be done to keep them in good shape. Thanks -JoeB

my main suggestion is to keep them clean. That's the #1 thing that brings them into the shop. When we see them, they have a lot of dirt in them (which will happen), grime. Just clean them down with simple green when you rotate your tires or when you wash your car. Just get all the rocks and dirt out of the shaft and make sure your Dust Boot cover is not torn. If you just take care of them and not abuse them, they will last a while.

Now, we do suggest that you overhaul you suspension 1-2 times a year depending on how you drive them, we've seen people drive around for 2-3 years without any kind of overhaul/rebuild. It also depends on the roads you drive as well.

The suspension that we sell at JIC is for racing. Yes, you can drive them daily but don't expect them to last long if you don't overhaul or maintain them. But you have to pay to play, folks. There is a reason why a lot of hardcore people that race love JIC and that's because it's a truely engineered for the race enthusiasts.

and PLEASE don't ask me about what I think about TEIN... LOL.
