18x8, +35 offset w/ 225/40/18s.

I also plan to have Tien/Tokico installed in the near future if that will affect things.

I ordered the above from Tirerack. They left me a msg that put my order on hold to notify me that that setup might require my fenders to get rolled. My question is will this be necessary? Anyone have this setup? Would, say +40 or +42 be better or will that rub the strut? I'm not sure what the other options in offset are, I'll call in tomorrow.

EDIT - Found out the tire I wanted comes in 235/40/18, which should be closer to stock total diameter, but it should be a little wider too. Any difference in rubbing?

You need to get the rear fender rolled.
I have the same setup.

I had 18x8 w/ +40 offset. The tire looked like it was bearly rubbing the strut ( 225/40/18 ). Maybe it was because I had Kumhos with the extra "lip" that stuck out a couple mm for protecting the rim. I had a 2mm spacer on that, pushing it out to +38, and there it didnt rub the strut or the fender. Ive seen taken them off, but I didnt know I had less then 3mm play between the wheel and rear fender. So it looks like I have to stick between 39 and 36 offset to be safe for 8" wide without any modification.

Thanks all...so now I have two more questions.

1) So if anyone knows, how wide is the fender lip? (How much more room from wheel to fender do you have if you roll them?) If they dont carry +36-40 offset, I have to get them rolled anyways, might look into 8.5s instead, if the shaved fenders give me enough room to find me a rim with the right offset

2) So how do you find a place that will roll your fenders? Will any rim shop do this?

18x8 with 35 offset should be ok. However depending on the tire you get you may need to roll the rear fenders. Do you know what tires you plan on getting yet?

I'm running 19x8.5 with a +37 offset and mine sits perfect without spacers but i cut the rear fenders so i wont be rubbing. my wheels are pretty much flush with the fenders in the rear and front. So with a .5 inch diff i can't see how you can rub that much with a +35 offset on 18x8 unless you get super wide tires.

My old wheels were 19x8 with +38 offset and it sat perfect with more then 5mm before it hits the rear fenders. You can Ask David he has htem on his car now and they sit really nice on this car.

I was gunna get 225/40/18 (About .3" shorter than stock) since thats what I have now, but also looked into 225/45/18 (skinner than 40 series and about .3" taller than stock. and 235/40/18. (Fatter and about equal height to stock). Considering what I see here, I think +35-40 with 45 series tires MIGHT fit without rubbing the strut or rolling fenders. (Happy_aggies: was it just tires rubbing or wheel was rubbing too?)

My old 18x8s were +40 w/ 2mm spacers, so I know +38 is perfect for 18x8, but you cant increase offset, only decrease it, so I'm trying to see whats up if I stick to +35.

Half an inch is a good 12mm, and with the same offset thats 6mm closer to the strut and 6mm closer to the fender. Seeing as how I have less than 5mm of room either way with the 18x8s here without rolling, that rolling the fender lip has to allow for at least 17mm of space.

What I know so far:
18x8 @ +40 w/ 225/40/18 = tires just rubs the strut, at least with my Kumho 712s.
18x8 @ +40 w/ 225/45/18 = probably no issues.
18x8 @ +35 w/ 225/40/18 = at least tire rubs the fender.
18x8 @ +35 w/ 225/45/18 = ?

The last one is the one I will probably do if Aggies tells me it was only the tire rubbing. Itll save me some trouble, and i have a little more rubber to ride the city streets on.

Well Aggies - Just the tire, or tire and rim rubbed the fender?
