Front Control Arm bushings

Front Control Arm bushings

For those interested. suspension .com has the Energy Suspension set of both front and rear lower control arm bushings for the MCV20 chassis. The part number is 8.3117 and it lists for $38 plus shipping. Glenn at Global does not know when the Superpolypro front bushing will be in as it a new listing. That would be for those who would like to keep the bushings the same brand. He will contact me with price and availability

There's 2. The one you have goes on the back attachment point of the control arm. The other one is for the front attachment point that has that big pin going through that has holes on each end to bolt it to the frame.

I dont know if SuperPolyPro ever did the R&D but Energy Suspension has. According to EricSol they have the mold and everything. They just don't want to make it due to low demand. JoeB and a few others called for people to call them but not many did so it died. Again, a lack of interest or just talk.

I tried calling for it. . . it was more of the lack of interest on the dogbone bushing which has made Super Pro back off on wanting to make rear motor mount. . . besides that front control, steering rack mount, dogbone, and rear trailing arms. . . Are there any other bushings avaliable for our car?

Not that I know of. It would probably be nice to have poly bushings on the rear link bars but just from memory the install seemed like a real pain. It was either drop the tank or rear cross member. I can't remember. BTW, Glenn got back to me and said that the front bushing for the control arm is made but just needs to be installed on a car and tested.

Alright cool but yeah it's to drop the rear cross member. . . I was reading about that on the Solara Repair Manual

In think the only way this could possibly happen is if we call Steve at Energy Suspension and ask him what it would take to make a limited run. The bad thing is we would probably have to arrange some sort of GB and you how those go.

No, I think it will be a while. I do have the Energy Susupension kit and did the install this past Saturday for the control arm front bushing. Know what? I'm not sure if anyone should bother. The stock bushing is very firm and I didn't notice much. I did notice that the stock bushing makes it hard for the control arm to pivot. The poly one allows a nice smooth movement. If anyone does this, make sure you put the bushing on the pin first and then press it in or you will have a hard time.

On another note, I think I need to apologize to SolaraGuy members cause I have known that the Energy Suspension bushings have been out for a long time (strut rod, control arm). As I recall about 3-4 years. Just slipped my mind.

It's cool man. . . So you have the front and rear bushing installed for the front control arm? hmm. . . I guess since I had everything put in at once that's probably why I would feel a difference
