which intake to choose

which intake to choose

Postby alext184 » Tue Dec 31, 2002 6:20 pm

After extensively looking at different intakes for the Toyota Solara (1999) I have realized that there are many and I don't know which one to choose. I found RMM, Injen and K&N air intakes. I was wondering if somebody could tell me which one is best and what kind of imrovement in performance can be expected from them.

Unfortunately RMM's Sport Intake is discontinued...and K&N doesn't make an intake for the Camry/Solara platform.

I'm assuming you have a V6 and the only one available out right now is the Injen. Performance improvement...don't expect much...realistically only 2-4hp to the wheels only.

Are there any other intakes that I are made for a 99 Toyota Solara V6 that maybe I don't know about.

K&N air filter and your done for about 40 bucks, its the safest and most reliable way. Intakes are over rated (unless they are CAI).

Nope Cattman is suppose to have one soon but I dont think it will ever come out. Do a search about intakes and you will see that this is a regular topic that is talked about, that might be the most help.

Years, hehe. JK. Personally i'd say buy the K & N now, its a great intake, and then when the Cattman CAI does come out you can possibly sell the k & N or just save it. Not worth it to wait though

You are most def not waiting for nothing. As soon as everything is set to go, I'll let everyone know asap. I've also told them about the interest for our 4cyl peoples to have a CAI as well, so everyone should get cold air soon :)

There's always the PROCAR PARTS intake with K&N air filter on EBAY.
