I have to ask....

I really want to get the Tein coilovers... but they are way out of my budget range at this time.

My car is in desperate need of a suspension...

So I have been pondering on possible strut+ spring combos...

Im feeling the tokico tein spring setup...
but have questions on the kyb eibach combo...

which do you guys think is best for daily driving/occasional agressive driving?

I live in NYC, so the ability to withstand them potholes is a must!

Yeah yeah, its an overdone question.... but please... NY guys help me out here! I dont wanna kill my wallet, but i wanna drop the ride, and make it look and handle nicely, atleast til next year.

Cheapest Spring/Strut Combo will be used parts that you can find on this forum OR if you want brand new than Tein S-Tech w/ KYB

yeah but I dont mind spending say $500 on everything, including the strut mounts.

Stiffest Struts right now is the Tokicos than KYB. . . up to you man. . . every person has their own opinion on this

Yeah TOKICO and TIEN are the best strut/spring setup before the big bucks coilovers.

Got a nice quote for the tokico/tein setup, itll run me $600 roughly after taxes.

Not too bad either, I went around , and got like an 800 dollar quote at some other place for tokico/eibach.

Oh yeah, and Im getting them from an authorized Tein dealer :lol:

springs are springs and struts are struts...

as long as you stay within the combo of Eibach, Tein, Vogtland, Intrax and KYB/Tockicos youll be fine

I say go KYB. They're high performance, less expensive, and you won't regret them. I believe they're also lifetime waranteed. I had Tokicos and then my front struts "locked up" (that's what the garage told me) so obviously I had a bad pair of Tokicos. I ended up replacing those with KYBs since that was all that was available locally and quickly (I was out of town). KYB's are smooth and my car handles better than anything I've driven, although I'm sure having the Tokicos on the back helps. I live in Austin and we have mean potholes here, if NY is worse (which I'll bet it is) there's no way I'd go with anything stiffer than KYB in front.

I would go with the Eibach springs because the drop is 1.6 all around compared to the Teins which are 1.7 in the front and 1.4 in the rear with a set of Tokico struts.....especially if your driving around in the city. I don't think you wanna stop every ten feet and swerve to miss those sheets of metal covering holes in the road or those nice dips they got going uptown, midtown & downtown.

Or you can be the first that I know of to try out those Tein H-tech springs already out for the Camry that will fit on the Solara with a 1.1 inch drop in the front and a 0.9 inch drop in the rear, it'll definately save the underside of your Solara a little better.

hrmmm i always wonder, unless your tracking the darn car or autocrossing why the hell do u need coilovers???

quite a waste.....

only real reasons you could need them are for the two reasons i mentioned otherwise YOUR WASTING YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!
