Did a search but too much came up. I really have no time to narrow down my search with specific words. Can anyone help me determine the best size for 17" wheels for a gen 1... I need to know if 17x7 or 17x7.5 fit better... the best offset (will 42 work) ... and tires , im not sure if 215/45 17 is best or 215/50 17

Thanks guyss

Edit... i found kenny's thread...

In it he said 17x7.5 , go with offset 42 or lower... the wheels im looking at are offset 42, should I go with a wheel spacer just to be safe? Also, tire rack recommends 215/50 17 for tires, however my friend has 215/45 and he's dropped.. I just bought some trd springs, should I go with 215/45 with a drop ?

I would go with 225/45/17.. that way you have a wider tire to protect your wheels.

with 7.5. i always recommend the min of 225/45/17. with 215/45 you will be srectching your tires...

also with 225/45/17 you will close to almost stock diameter and it wont mess with the speedo as much.

hope this helps..

also 7.5 with 42offset you should be fine without any spacers...

"I concur"

I have had two sets of 17x7 rims and the 225/45/17 tires have protected them both from curb rash. This is also the size that TRD reccommends with their 17x7 wheels.
