What times can be expected

What times can be expected

I didnt know where to post this, but its kinda about the gen 1 and gen 2 Solara. I really like the gen 2 more because its faster and looks better IMO, but I'd rather have the 5spd of the gen 1, which I like the look of it too. What kind of mods does the gen 1 have available and what 1/8 mile or 1/4 times can be achieved with these mods? And what times can be expected with a turbo or S/C? Sorry for the newb questions, but I'm tryin to decide on which one to get if I get one. Thanks

there is no turbo for the solara. You can put an aftermarket one like some of the Gen 1 guys in here or u can get an Gen2 I4 and put an TC turbo kit in it, beside that if you want speed, stienk with the Gen 1. But for the Gen2 if u want looks and not alot og aftermarket support (supercharger) then go with the Gen 2. anyway.. good luck on ur choice.

here is an example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V040BLem ... rch=solara

According to car and driver a 5 speed solara v6 is faaster than a 225 hp auto gen 2. Not a lot but it is a little faster.

1/4 mile times

Postby trd4life » Thu Jul 13, 2006 11:05 am

a gen 1 5speed v6 runs a 15.1 stock. With headers, intake, exhaust, and good suspension low to mid 14's are possible.

The same car with a trd supercharger at 6psi, along with supporting fuel mods and electronics is capable of a mid to low 13's .

none of the turbo v6 guys have posted any 1/4 mile times yet.

Thanks for the replies guys. Do any of you know why they havent made a turbo for the gen 1 or gen 2 Solara? Mid to low 13's with bolt on's and a S/C isnt that fast, but I guess its pretty fast for a Solara. I know I shouldnt even be lookin for a Solara if I want something fast, but I just love the look. Thanks again
