Highlander Alternator ROCKS!!

Highlander Alternator ROCKS!!

Postby DatSRBoi » Wed Sep 13, 2006 7:46 pm

I just installed the Highlander alternator off a 01 V6 highlander. All I can say is I think toyota made a mistake EVER for putting such a low amp on the solara. I didnt get the 130mp because I was going to have to drive far for it and it was taking up my time so I grab the 100amp. For me not running allot of electronic I FEEL GREAT having it. Everything works as if I just gaved it advil and its coming out of a cold. I havnt had a dead battery in days and I love it. The alternator BOLTS right up and its alittle bigger but man it runs nice.

Thanks who ever figured this out. I THINK ITS A GREAT MOD. Especially when everything works brightly and stronger.

I think that is to soak up the raditor overflow....
I have a 1998 Toyota Camry V6 overflow tank, so now it doesn't splash or shoot radiator fluid from the spigit.

Didnt want over fluid to get all over the engine bay nor on the pulleys and belts.

Picked mine up at autozone. 2001 Highlander V6. Get the 100amp one because the 130amp doesnt come out yet in stores. Only dealership carries that and its 300 plus for it. I got mine for 107 after tax with core exchange...

Oh yeah. Dont tell them its for a solara because they might give you a lower core exchange rate. Its a 90 dollar core exchange.!!!!

Before everyone jumps and gets a highlander alternator...

Unless your current alternator was having problems, or you have so many electronics going that your surpassing the output of the stock alternator, upgrading to a higher output alternator should make no difference. 80A should be plenty for a stock setup with a range of aftermarket electronics.

If your battery was going dead, then your old alternator probably had issues anyways. In your case, replacing the alternator isnt a mod, but its maintenance. This would only be a mod on a car whose electronic setup is outdrawing the 80 Amps the stock alternator is putting out.

And also, since you core exchanged your alternator as a 01 highlander altenator, the next solaraguy looking for a highlander alternator at that Autozone is going to land themselves a reman'ed 80 Amp Solara alternator instead.

Dunno why but I had my stock alternator checked and it ran just fine. It just wasnt giving the car enough power to recharge itself. I blame it on the sueprcharger with the smaller pulley might of weakened the stock 4psi belt.

Quick question. Is that a new one, or was that a re-build one?

(not that i'm wanting to jump into this - its just when the time comes, this will keep other options open).
