Need some help from you guys, RX-8 wheels

I really like the look of the factory wheels on the RX-8

Image

They are 5x114.3, which means they will fit our cars.

However, the offset is 50, which means it will sit pretty far in, right? Can I get spacers to make them be more flush with the fender (I know I'll probably have to get them rolled). How much do spacers typically cost, and are they hard to install? I've never really looked into them, so if someone can give me a crash course, that would be nice.

Also, the center caps are mazda. Is this changeable to toyota? And as for strength, I would assume factory wheels on a car like that would be pretty strong, right?

with 50 offset theyll sink in pretty far.... how wide are they?
you should check out the lexus rx wheels. they look a lot like those and might be a better fit for the solara

they are 8" wide. can't i use spacers to bring them out further?

the rx330 wheels are nice, but i still like the rx8 ones better, theyre more agressive

neither of those wheels look that much different than Gen2 wheels... I know there is someone on here with a Gen1/1.5 with Gen2 wheels...

i know they look similar in pictures, but in person, its different. the rx8 wheels have straight spokes, and the center is indented inwards. the rx330 and gen2 spokes expand as they go outwards, and are fatter. the lip is also smaller on the rx8 wheels giving the appearance of a larger wheel.

yes, i know im anal

so does anyone know anything about centercaps?

These will wit fit is you use a 10 to 15 mm spacer in the rear and you need at least a 5 mm spacer in the front. You might be able to get away with 50mm offset in the front with 8" wide but its getting really close to the strut assembly. You might rub at full lock turn.

You might still have safe but then again I've never had anyone use 50mm offset in front with 8" wide.

I know others have use the gen 2 wheels which is 7.5" with 50mm offset in the front and haven't had problems so I am not sure if the .5" diff would really do anything as far as rubbing.

Good Luck and let us know how it turns out.

another thing you gotta think about is the center bore hub. If its too small on the rims, it wont want to go on the car's hub. If its too big, it shouldn't be too mch of a problem, but thing is that it wont be hub-centric and would just be riding on the studs/lug nuts.

don't use Mazda factory wheels on your Toyota, that's just wrong. lol
there's plenty of aftermarket wheels to choose from.

hmm that is interesting. so not all 5x114.3 bolt pattern wheels will fit on another car with the same bolt pattern? as for the hub being too large, would hub-centric rings solve this problem?

on another note, for anyone who thinks this will make the car 'ricey', id have to disagree. they are very clean and simple 5 spoke wheels (no bling, mesh, dish) and the mazda centercap will be replaced with toyota. i think if you look at my car you will find that it is anything BUT ricey (no loud exhaust, stickers of any kind, gauges, spoilers, etc.) and if you guys are just trying to pull my leg, then eff you and get outta my thread :P

im pretty darn serious about gettin these, cant beat em for the price and look. i originally wanted these but they dont make them in 18"

I don't think it will look ricey..........the RX8 wheels is just almost look like Gen2 rims......and like hari-bhari said check the hub may is too small, my friend offer me his stock rims from his Acura CL it has the same bolt patter 5x114 but the hub is too small....yeah replace the center cap and you're all set.

man how can i check the hub size. What's the hub size on ours?

EDIT: I also just found out that the typical tire width on these is 245. What offset would I need to run with this width?
