Talk about aftermarket Toyota Solara Gen 1-1.5 upgrades.

check engine light on..

check engine light on..

not sure if this goes under aftermarket or just the reg area. but i put it in aftermarket because i think it's related to the intake.

so i got the Injen SRI installed today, it worked perfectly and drove without any issues ever since the install. Then about 45 minutes later the check engine light went on and my buddy with his accord says it did the same thing to his car but later on the light went away.
I know there is nothing wrong with the car but what can I do to have the light go away? (other than something stupid like removing the bulb that lights up the 'check engine' or something along those lines)

I think ive heard people having this problem before when putting on intakes. Take it to the AutoZone or whatever and have them run a free code check...

Gives you a code that lets you know exactly what is wrong. I've had my check engine light on for 2 years. The OBD scanner indicated the oxygen sensor. I'm running rich and I love it.

i heard from a fellow sg member that you can disconnect the negative battery terminal and it will go away. [if there is a problem then the light will come back]

Yes, 20-30mins disconnect to be safe. Ive done this before. My light came on, went to AutoZone and got my code read, unplugged my battery, came back on, ended up getting a new 02 sensor (bank 1, sensor 1). It wouldnt hurt you if you tried resetting it. Just a pain resetting all the clocks...

Yes unplugging the battery for a half hour will reset the code but if it comes back on i would head to autozone........when the check engine light comes on the computer KNOWS what the problem is so what you do is drive it to autozone and have them stick a obdII scanner into it thew will then tell you the code and what it means usually if they dont have one that names the code just write it down and search for it here to see what the EXACT problem is might be a maf sensor malf. which would indeed be your intake......or something else

And the limp mode where it lowers your hp is usually because of a blown knock sensor so dont worry about that

Go to autozone.
Have them pull the code. (Just tell the guy your check engine light is on, he'll know what to do. Also called ODB-2 or CEL code). He will connect a tool to your car and read the code stored in the car's computer.
Write down the code he pulls.
Ask the guy to clear the code while hes plugged in there.
Drive home.
Put the code in google to find out what it means.
See if it comes back.

Probably as simple as a lose hose or connection. Make sure the hoses and the couplers are all on tight. Or it could be something completely different...which is why you want to pull the code and clear it with the diagnostic tool and not just clear it by disconnecting the battery.
