When you say "White gauges" (had to go hunt down Part 1 to know what was going on), are you referring to the needles, or are you referring to the flat faceplate-like gauge covers that slip over the factory gauges? If it's the slip-on kind, there are no "bulbs" - it's an electroluminescent panel. If it's going out, there's a couple possible reasons why:

1) It's not grounded / powered properly. Check your wiring to make sure it's connected to a secure power source.

2) One of the faceplates isn't connected properly. If I recall correctly (I had a similar set of gauges on my 91 Camry), the amount of power that goes to the gauges is dependant on how many of them are connected. If one or two aren't connected well, it can make the ballast... thing... put more power to the ones that are connected.

3) The power box / ballast thingey is bad. I've yet to see a truly "high quality" set of aftermarket white gauge faceplates for the Toyotas.

Perhaps you get snap some pictures of what the actual unit is, and we can go from there?
