I can throw in my experiences and hope somebody finds them useful:

My camry came with white 18X8 ~+32 offset OZ wheels, 225/45/18 width tires. I replaced them with 17X8.5 ~+32 offset Rotas with 235/45/17 tires (Hankook RS3's).

the 17" wheels were ~ 4lbs lighter per corner, rolled the rear fenders and am much happier (no rubbing but really close). 17" wheels are a good balance between horsepower and handling (Road and track),

the 18's may look cooler but do extract hp with their increased moment of inertia and the tire prices really jumped.
