Solara Specifc Triple Gauge Pod...

Solara Specifc Triple Gauge Pod...

Postby CamryOnBronze » Thu May 24, 2007 2:10 pm

Alright, so I am in the process of boosting my 99 Solara. I had a triple pillar gauge pod for my gen 3 camry and thought I could custom fit it into the solara. Im guessing that I probably could, but when I test fitted it today there were some awkward gaps.

I would prefer to have a Solara specific triple pillar pod for a cleaner look. I am fairly sure from my research that they dont make such a thing for the gen 1/1.5 Solara. If they do, then someone can point me in the direction... if not...

I noticed on Lotec's website (gaugepods.com) That they do group buys for pods that have not been produced yet. Is there any interest in any of you guys wanting to do a group buy for these? It said they usually require twenty paid orders in advance, and Im guessing I probably couldnt get that many guys to fron the money, but I want a nice gauge pod really bad, so I thought I would throw it out there...

Any thoughts?

Damon

I know, thats why Im trying to get one produced...

No, I didnt buy the supercharger off ebay. I was going to think it over tonight and then probably buy it in the morning... thats what I get for waiting around.

Lets start a list of people that would be willing to prepay to get these produced... Its probably going to be around 50 bucks ballpark, but lets not even worry about that yet... I need interest before I even attempt to get these made.

Interested/Would Pay to have a Solara specific triple pod:

Is that price accurate? $45 for a full pillar triple gauge pod? If it's reasonably close to that you can definitely count me in. In fact if it comes color matched to the ivory interior, that would be perfect. How many people do they need for this to happen?

It says on their generic group buy page on their website that they usually require twenty...

Here is the information on their website:

Attention car clubs and Internet forum groups. We can manufacture custom gauge holders for your vehicle. Prices starting at just $20 for single pods. Full-length pillars as low as $39.

Minimum order quantity as low as 20 per project. Some models may require a higher minimum. All projects must be paid prior to project start. Pricing will be determined after receipt of OEM part for evaluation. Most of our products range from $40-$60 ea. depending on complexity.

REQUIREMENTS:

Name, address, and contact information of project leader. Follow-up will be with project leader only. (Please do not have others call for status)

OEM part from project leader. This will be used for fabricating the mold and is non-returnable.

Make, model and year range specifications.

Color samples (at least 4"x4" sample) of all colors to be painted.

Gauge Size requested (usually 2 1/16" and/or 60mm). Note: some models may not accomodate 60mm gauges due to width limitations.

PRODUCTION SCHEDULE:

Rough mock-up will be made and sent to project leader. Project leader test-fits mock-up - checking for clearance problems and angle of gauges. Project leader returns the mockup with any modifications and approves the design.

Mold-making process - approx 1-4 weeks

Initial production run - approx 3-4 weeks

Finishing and shipping - approx 1 week after product availability.

*******IMPORTANT********

PRODUCTION SCHEDULING IS COMPLEX AND DELAYS ARE NOT UNCOMMON DUE TO THE NUMBER OF PROJECTS AHEAD OF YOURS, MATERIAL LEAD-TIME, ETC. WE DO OUR BEST TO PROVIDE A RESONABLE ESTIMATE OF DELIVERY TIMES - HOWEVER, WE CANNOT GAURANTEE A DELIVERY DATE.

From my experience it will cost more...
I have a triple gauge pod for my xB and the cost of the pod was $95.00 after shipping...

the xB's pod is allot more simple then the solara one...

But Best of luck on getting this to work.. 20 ppls is allot for this forum since most dont like the look of triple gauge pods...

even if everyone liked it, im sure they wouldnt spend the money

I was part of the gen 3 camry group buy for these through lotec and they were 45 bucks a piece... The gen 3 camry one almost fits, its close, but not quite right. Im kind of a perfectionist with this sort of stuff, so I wanted to get a specific one and help people out, but I doubt it would happen...

I guess Im going to try to mold this one.

well shoot, if they are around even $50 you could pick up a few and sell them over time on ebay or somthing, there has to be more supercharged solaras then the ones who get on TN and SG...

Sure you could turn a profit, as long as youve got the $ to buy a few.

I might be interested sticking a voltage meter in there and maybe some thing else...hummmm
