Ok I have just bought a set of 18x8.5 with a 35mm off set. I just wanted to know if anyone else has done a 35mm offset on a gen 1? I know I will have to roll the fenders but I just want to make sure they will not stick out. I did some measurements and it seems like they will fit just flush with the car. I know I am taking a gamble, but any input would be great!

http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

8.5" +35mm offset
VS
8" +40mm offset

You'll have 1mm more inner and 11mm more outside. 11mm equal roughly bit less than half an inch.

I ain't an off-set expert so I can't answer that question, but I do know that if those were taken off a Bimmer you may need to worry about the bolt pattern... Many BMWs use 120x5 spacing, whereas our Toyotas use 114.3x5...

Also, why ask if you've already purchased? Too late man, just try 'em and see...

*edit* Damnit Eddie, you beat me too it, but I was more descriptive :-P

I've got 19x8.5 +35 offset and 235 series tires (although these Falkens have some sidewall protection which makes it look like they are 225's). They do sit pretty flush, sorry I don't have a really good pic.

They are not from a BMW, like I said I'm not quite sure why the logo is there. The pattern I ordered was the 5x114.3, so I know I am good there. I'm just happy that they will look right..LOL. Thanks to everyone for their input!
