i'm considering buying 18 inch rims that have an offset of 38. I'm also planning on putting 235/40/18ZR tires on them and lowering the car with Tein S Tech springs. Will they stick out too far and hit the fender?

i think with the 235's you will rub. i assume 8" wide?

i got coilovers. no wheel gap. slightly rolled fender. 18X8 +38 on 225/40's and i rub on heavy turns/bumps. i need to get my fenders rolled more...either way you would need to roll that rear lip.

hi.

i have this setup. my fenders are rolled. tires WILL slightly rub on dips and bumps. i would recommend going to the 225/40/18 size.

the width of the tire is 8". so the best wheel tire set up for a solara is 225/40 for 18's? i don't want to roll my fenders. can someone give me a range of what offset is suggested (ie. 38-45)?

225/40/18 is the perfect size for that size rim on a Solara. with these tires on 18x8's at +38 (Which is actually the perfect offset for 18x8), its cutting it close, but you should not have to roll the fenders. Youll be within a couple millimeters, so even the brand of tire may affect if you rub or not.

I though 18x8 with an 40 offset and 225/40/18 was the perfict fit and wouln't rub ????

at 225/40/18, 38 or 40 should work in most cases.

40 is further in, and is close to the strut. Again, footprint of the tire or "lip" of the tire may affect if you rub the strut.

+35 will may rub the fender if dropped. The difference between where a +35 and a +40 sits is half a centimeter, so its not alot of room for error either way.

i was recommended 225/40/18 from a tire shop and i wont have rubbing issues, but i don't know what he said the offset was going to be but i might be lowering so i will have to tell him my setup so i wont have issues! :S if you stay with 225/40/18 you should be good :)
