anyways so i take my car to "good guys" and im ready to dish out the $$ to get my system in, and the guy tells me that there no way i can get the amp installed until i get a aftermarket head unit...

so is that guy full of it, do all of you with a system have aftermarket headunits?

Typically, to get a better sound... the best first upgrade is the headunit... It is usually underpowered so it doesn't deliver the crisp sound that it should. Plus, we have a component amp (00+) so the wiring will get messy if you decide to add an aftermarket headunit later... He can work with the stock, but I, and I'm sure many others will, recommend to upgrade the head

I agree. It can be done, but its really not worth it especially if you plan to upgrade your headunit later.

i had mine put in no problem, yea i have the JBL stereo.... didnt take long either and i got stock headunit. i like hoe he stock headunit looks, it clean, aftermarket headunit get cluttered and stick out ya know?
