yeah a 9'' wheel would've poked and depending of the offset it would have rubbed on the strut.

I have
Year : 2001
Suspension setup: stock
Fender Rolled: No
Wheel Brand: I'm going to get is Ruff Racing
Wheel Size: 18 x 8
Tire: what was recommened was 225/40/18 will this work for the front as well as the rear or do I have to do any mods and if so what mods should I do. I don't want it to rub.
Also im not sure if this tire is considered low profile. Any help would be appreciated.

Year: 1999 SLE champagne
Suspension setup: stock
Fender Rolled?: no
Wheel brand: AT Italia Inox
Wheel size: 18 x 8
Offset of wheel: probably right around 45mm.
Rubbing issue?: In the back the rims were rubbing, not the tires. Needed a set of spacers regardless of tire size. No spacers in the front
Tire size: 215/45/r18 on the back and 245/40/18z on the front

Year: 1999
Suspension setup: Stock
Fender Rolled?: No
Wheel brand: G37s front rims at all four corners
Wheel size: 19x8.5 all around
Offset of wheel: 33+ all around
Rubbing issue?: No
Tire size: 225/45/19

I basically have the front rims off the G37s at all four corners...took me a little while to source them but they look perfect! No rubbing and no drop as yet...if i decide to keep and lower, i'll upgrade to more of a low profile tire. Also willing to sell the wheel/tire/spacer setup if anyone's interested, PM for details.
