If you guys had the choice to pick 3 out of these 5 gauges, which 3 would you pick?

a. Exhaust Gas Temp (EGT)
b. Oil Temp
c. Water Temp
d. Fuel Pressure
e. Oil Pressure

^ Ditto.

Id be 50-50 with the fuel pressure vs oil pressure.

is this for aesthetics? or is there a legit reason you need to add extra gauges? Just curious.

^ it really never hurts to know what your engine is doing... you might not have thousands of dollars into the motor, but the more you know about whats going on the better IMO.

I went through the same gauge choices and ended up with boost, egt, and wideband a/f, but that is on a f/i setup.

fuel pressure and egt are very good gauges to have. For me personally its a toss up between oil pressure and oil temp. I had both on my gen 3 camry and it was cool to see the tmps go up in traffic and lower on the freeway... gauges are fun

1. Oil pressure - If this bad boy drops, you need to know ASAP or say good bye to your engine.

2. Coolant temperature - If it gets too high, then you need to know before you break something.

3. Doesn't matter. Oil temp isn't really going to give you any more info than coolant temp. EGT, you really can't do much depending on how your car is modified, and you can easily look at coolant temp and be able to tell if you car is running lean or rich. And fuel pressure isn't really going to change anything. You are either getting enough fuel or not. It would be nice to have one for diagnostics though, but not permanent.

^ but wouldnt low fuel pressure=running lean=blowing up? EGT is very beneficial in tuning, but probably not necessary if you have a wideband a/f as well. If coolant temp is getting to a dangerous level you will know by the factory gauge. It may not be as accurate, but it would be enough to know if you have an issue.

You could tell by coolant temperature if your car was running lean, and depending on how well you know your car, you can probably tell by the way it acts when driving that something is up. You really don't need any extra gauges. If you want them for looks, it really doesn't matter what you put there. It won't improve your performance, or tell you anything you can't already figure out.

from experience, I'd say

1. oil pressure
2. oil temp
3. egt
4. fuel pressure
5. coolant temp

oil pressure and oil temp mainly because our cars don't come with the appropriate gauges. by the time your low oil light comes on, you have very very little oil left in your engine....I've had my sienna light come on before because there was a really really bad camshaft seal leak (somehow the seal got torn apart after I put it in) and when I quickly refilled it on the road, it took the entire 5L bottle to fill it back up to par- not a good thing. also- it's good to know the load on your car and that everything is going fine by how high the oil pressure goes as well.

and oil temp well, that is just self-explanatory. it's even more important than coolant temp.

egt- why waste the money on one when you can't tune with one? just use the same money and get a wideband

fuel pressure- it's good to know, yes, but in the end...if you lose your fuel pressure due to a blown line, you're screwed regardless and the engine will be blown. it's good for tuning purposes though if you have an external fpr- but then, chances are you'd have a fuel pressure gauge on your fpr anyway for that purpose.

and coolant temp- good to have as well, for more accurate info. But long story short, the stock temp gauge will let you know if you have problems with your coolant system.

Both...for aesthetics & early detection if ever a problem arises...plus I love DEFI BF Gauges...

Well I just bought a set of DEFI BF Oil Pressure, Oil Temp & Fuel Pressure...I picked these 3 because I'm going to be running the AFC-NEO & since this is an a/f piggyback ecu I think it's important to know if ever my car's going to be running too lean or too rich...

If you're automatic, I'd go with transmission temp then. :sweet:

For the trans temp I'm going to install the Trans Fluid Cooler with the fan & that kit comes with the trans temp gauge!
