Tein springs tech question

Since reading how good Tein springs are, I saw some on ebay for $140 and was about to buy (instead of buying the H&R's I was originally going to buy). However, I don't think the Teins are progressive rate. Can anyone confirm this?

I like how the Tein's lower the car more in the front than the back, but H&R's do the same thing. So the only deciding factor now is whether or not the Tein's are progressive. Progressive springs, from what I've read, generally offer a better ride quality for everyday driving, but they provided increased stiffness when needed.

i don't know what progressive springs are, so maybe you can elaborate more on that.

as far as brand name and quality springs go, i'd get the Tein or Eibach springs. people here on the boards have them, so at least you know they do the job properly.

well, heres my general understanding
progressive springs are wound with different...whats that word...elasticity? compression-ness? well, you get the idea. so anyways, when you go over a bump, the spring isn't as stiff (as in the softer part compresses, which would be similar to the stock spring, providing a more cushioned, comfortable ride)
however, when you take a hard corner, the 'soft' portion of the spring compresses fully, and youre onto the firmer part of the spring, which wont allow as much compression, for reduced body roll

a regular spring has the same 'compression-ness' all the way through, which is probably better from a purely performance standpoint, at the cost of a rougher ride

this probably wont make sense to you, but it makes sense to me

Perfect explanation Nasty. So does anyone happen to know if the Teins are progressive? I'm kinda thinking they aren't because I went to Tein's site, and there is no mention of them being prgressive springs. I was just hoping to get extra confirmation through someone here. The thing I really like about the Tein's is that they are guaranteed not to sag, and they lower the front more than the back. But as I mentioned earlier, the H&R's have all of those attributes also, so I'll probably just get the H&R's. The H&R's are more expensive, but I guess you usually get what you pay for.

The technical term for "compression-ness" is the spring constant. Check out Hooke's Law for more details.
