Interior Replacement Lighting

Interior Replacement Lighting

Postby SammySolara » Wed Jun 11, 2003 12:11 pm

Has anyone changed the color to their lighting in their dome, trunk or glove compartment? I have an 02 Lunar Mist with black interior, which color would look best? The numbers I have are:
* Dome = 3175
* Trunk = 194
* Glove Compartment = 37 are those correct, and where is the best place to purchase these, sounddomain.com?

Thanks in advance,
Jen `02 Solara

I've changed my two domes and trunk as well as my (manual) AC controls all to red. I'm very happy with the end result, I haven't done my glove box because I couldn't get to the light and got frustrated. If you do your glovebox, let me know how it goes!

How did you replace your AC controls? Was it hard and would you consider it a nice match with your dome lights? What is the bulb # for the AC control replacements?

I have a Lunar Mist (Silver) exterior with Black Charcoal interior; does anyone think some green interior lights would look nice? (In the dome, glove compartment and trunk)

I mean in the glove, trunk and dome where it is white. I think what I am trying to do is fairly simple compared to that. Just wanted to know if anybody has green in those spots and like it or would suggest it? I know FLASH has red and likes it... but green?!

REPLACEMENT LIGHTS

Postby solara_man2000 » Wed Sep 03, 2003 12:38 am

I thought it would be easier to make a list of all the possible replacement lights and total quantity for the 2000 Solara. Then you can check Ebay or other websites and manufacturers for different kinds/colors of bulbs. If anything is wrong let me know.

Exterior Lights:
Headlight: 9003 or H4 x2
Fog Lights: 9006 x2
Front turn signals/Parking Lights: 1157 x2
Backup Light: 921 x2
Stop and Tail Lights: 3157 x2
Rear Turn Signal: 3157 x2
High mounted (rear window) stop light: T16 (stock) or 194 x1
Licence plate: 194 x1

Interior Lights:
Trunk Light: 194 x1
Dome Light (Interior Light): 3175 x1
Map Light (Personal Light): 3175 x1
Vanity Lights: 2721 x2
Glovebox Light: 37
Ashtray Light: 2721x1
Dash (Gauge Cluster): 194 x5
Manual HVAC: 2721 x2

Unknown Bulbs:
Gauge turn signal lights: ? x2 (I think they might be 2721)
Cigarette Lighter: ? x1 (It could be a 2721)
AC/AIR INTAKE/REAR DEFROST buttons: ? x3 (They could be LEDs)
Ignition Light: ? x1 (It could be a 2721)
A/T SHIFT GATE: ? x1 (It could be a 2721)
Radio Light: ???? (don't think you can change this)
Driver's Side Power Window Button (this is the very dim light on the power window button on the driver's side that turns on only when you remove the key from the ignition before opening the door: ? x1 (not sure)

My goal is to replace all the green lights with hyper white lights. :D

Help

Postby hnda8r » Wed Sep 03, 2003 4:31 am

I also changed my gauge and a/c, defrost lights to red. But im having trouble with the stock head unit. How do i change the color on that? Looks kinda wierd with everything red except my head unit. :o

And for the dome light Sammysolara, Id do something other then buy colored bulbs, cause i tried that and it end up going back to white after a week. Try heat resistant paint. thats what i did. Been workin great
In search for my next Supercharged Solara!!!

I figured that since brake caliper paint can supposedly last up to some 1000 degrees, or somthing ridiculous, that I'd just use that. It works perfectly.

the A/C and defrost lights are not 2721. They are a weird screw bulb (very tiny).

As for the air intake switch or knob, i assume you're talking about the thing you slide left and right for climate control air intake. that's is just illuminated by the lights that illuminate all the other HVAC controls, which would be 2721.
